I can't speak for anyone but myself - my expectations didn't really exist and I'm fine with what we got, it's a fun tune. If I expected 21CB vol 2, boy I'd be disappointed. All you expected was the "Blender of All Motherfuckers"

The Grohl Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I always thought Carpe Diem or Stay the Night would've been better singles than Oh Love.
wjwolf Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 The first time I heard the song I was really taken aback by the vocals and absolutely hated the song. Once i had the stomach to come back to it, the song itself isn’t terrible and is kinda catchy. I just can’t get over not being able to hear Billie’s voice at all (especially on the verses). Makes me really wish they’d put out a version that minimizes/takes away the vocal filters because they are jarring to the ear.
Guest Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I made a poll where we can rate FOA on a scale from 1-10 pls respond
GDFan2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Apparently, Green Day has another big announcement tomorrow morning on ALT 98.7 in LA at 8:30 am PDT. But it’s not going to be about new music or the tour. What do you guys think it could be? In the Instastory https://instagram.com/greendayslongview?igshid=fv80ijrlasl5

I just made a thread for it.
Guest Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Will someone record it please? I won't be able to catch it live.

Those leaks we had, the title of the song and Matt saying they added more songs to an album all combined to make people's expectations super high for a more complex, deep tune with more of a AI / 21st CB vibe in terms of the BIG sound. Of course, the album cover and length of it are impacting on people's opinions of this song too I think. I haven't had expectations since 2003. The song is just fucking complete garbage.
greenalert997x Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I believe rest of the album will be a stripped down rock and roll in the spirit of iDos! A dose of songs in style of Fuck Time, Makeout Party and Lady Cobra, but with more harmonies Would be great FOAMF is quite catchy but unapproachable at the same time After a moment of refelction, I don't worry about the rest songs (or just less). Billie said that the lead single represents the entire shape of foamf, but it only means they want to keep the spirit of rock and roll. The description and unfortunately... sickening cover art basically confirms that they're going to remain loopy If the single had been filled with synthesizers instead of guitars, I would have been worried, but obviously the ''only'' strangest thing is Billies vocal. I don't suppose he recorded the rest nine songs like that. That would be unforgivable. I cannot wait to hear some beutiful harmonies, Billies natural vocal. I dream about a snippets of his soothing vocal, like in Troubled Times or in Outlaws (the last part). In Outlaws a little distorion on vocal sounds perfect. Since they care less about commercial success, it's quite explainable why they chose that single
pacejunkie punk Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Billie talked about this exact thing in the Beyond and Back Podcast last fall, just before starting this album — the fear of going outside your comfort zone to push yourself creatively because you worry what will people think. He even used the example of singing like Rick James to talk about it. It’s so hard to put yourself and your crazy ideas out there for scrutiny and judgment and he can be pretty sensitive, but he doesn’t let it stop him. It’s one of the things I admire most about him, it’s courageous and I support it. I couldn’t possibly condemn him for trying something new (and it happens I love the song though I admit I’m getting used to the falsetto).
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I just watched live videos from yesterday and omg this is fun live - the bass is awesome and so are Billie's vocals even though I'm not entirely convinced there's no backing track lol. It was like a foxboro show. I'm hyped for Kimmel
The_real_st_jimmy Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 This songs been stuck in my head for like an hour now😂

Gonzalo17 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Horrible B-side of Magnus Opus of the inglorious Kind

Alan86 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Perfectly happy with this single now, Billies voice was the hardest thing to get used to but the more you listen to it the the easier it gets. The chorus is catchy as fuck. This album is just gonna be 10 short bursts of energy, can’t wait for the rest.
The Grohl Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 The song really is catchy! I watched the live version from last night and the song has been stuck in my head since. I'm still not used to Billie's singing, but the song is definitely growing on me.
Jankowski576 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 The solo is fucking awesome and so are all of the tiny things like what’s going on in your right speaker compared to your left - I love those little things in music

17Gonzalo Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Those who clap and celebrate on their moments "Stop Drop and Roll" and "DOS!" are gulty for this horrible single (and probably album)...
The_real_st_jimmy Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 The bass lines in it sound so good😎
