cabbagecase Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 They've been toying with this direction for years. You can here it in some album tracks but mostly in the numerous side projects. Personally, i prefer earlier green day but appreciate their musical development. They're still gonna play the old shit at gigs!
Christian's Inferno! Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Am I the only one that thinks this doesn't really sound any better live?
Flashback Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I like the mastering of the track, bass and guitars are very harmonic, the drums sound clean.
madafaka Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I will desperately cling onto the hope of this being some sort of troll It's the only thing I feel could turn this into something epic. I was not informed that this was their last album on their contract with Warner. Anyone could elaborate on this? If Dookie+10 albums, has always been the deal (wow, bad deal guys) it makes me wonder if even the Trilogy was a ploy to get out of it as soon as possible (did they count as three albums on the contract?). Right now, everything FOAMF comes off as "punk" in a very cringy way. If they released an independent album on Jingletown, shortly after FOAMF though, it could actually be one of the coolest moves they've ever done. One thing is for certain, something fishy is going on, and I predict it will be either really great or really awful. EDIT: Just watched the KROQ interview. They are definitely trolling a little bit!

Trilogy counts as one album. The first deal in 1993 was 5 albums

Well, I must say the live version is an improvement because I can at least hear it's clearly Billie who's singing😂 The studio version just sounds so... un-Billie-ish and wrong.
Verycool99 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 21st century breakdown- voice gets a bit higher than before trilogy - continues progress to higher pitch revrad - slow down boys they ain’t ready for what’s next foam- Billie’s final form I’ve been trying to figure out what the vocal melody reminds me of in the chorus, it’s Bored and Razed by the Raconteurs

They are definitely trolling a little bit! “Jingletown” does not exist. It was only a studio that they owned, and sold it in 2017. Also, Adeline Records no longer exists. It went defunct in 2017 when they changed management companies.
Austrian_Insomniac Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 reminds me of jack white songs and of the suits soundtrack
pacejunkie punk Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 After hearing the song and seeing it live, the concept for a video from the Madonna Inn makes much more sense. Sensory overload, chaos, glitter and glam. I can’t wait to see the video now. When do you think they’ll release it?

Flashback Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 me hearing FOAM for the first time: What the... Ok... not what I expected but sounds quite good me hearing FOAM for the 10th time: I GOT PARANOIA BABY

disappearing_boy_39 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 The chord structure in the verses is very similar to "Fuck Time" and the drums remind me of "Makeout Party." The distorted falsetto vocals are odd but I'm getting used to that. At the end of the day, it sounds like a rehash and I'm not hearing anything new or musically adventurous. Not terrible/not great. We'll have to wait and see what the rest of the album holds.
Guest Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 It's official. I fucking love this song. Still don't like the vocal filters but damn it's a catchy song, and the way he's singing is what makes it interesting. It's been stuck in my head all day, gonna catch up on all the news now and I'm excited to see how much I'll love it live. Glad to see so many of you have changed your mind about the song so soon!

Yup the song is good. I still think I will love 5-6 other songs on the album before this one tho. It's probably just me but I don't think they put the BEST song of the album as the single. During the trilogy era they put out Oh Love and after the Uno! release I was like ''Damn it should have been Nuclear Family or Stay The Night as a single''
pacejunkie punk Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I think this song should be the new St. Jimmy at the shows. In fact, in honor of Billie Joe’s shortened attention span, he should lose Jesus of Suburbia and every other long song in the set and pack the 90 minutes with three minute or less bangers.

Honestly I love songs like JoS, and even if I saw GD live many times I would still enjoy KFAD. I would love to see Forever Now live as well, maybe even the 24 minutes version of FOAM That said, I would really enjoy a drastic change in your direction, it would be something new. I don’t think it’s gonna happen tho, they played JoS even at the 45 minutes secret show 😂
The Grohl Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I definitely think the song is better live from the short clip I saw and I can't wait to watch the performance from last night's gig to get the full experience. The studio version is how I felt about Oh Love. It's an okay song, but it did not make me excited for the Trilogy. So I'm hoping the next single they share will really get me pumped about the album.
Christian's Inferno! Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I feel like I'm the only one who loved Oh Love on my first listen and still loves it
