Almost all reviews I've seen in newspapers over here in Germany are very bad too. Most of them write something like "in an election year you would have expected an American Idiot 2 from Green Day", but none of them was clever enough to make the connection that we got FOAM as an "in your face" because of those high expectations 😄

A short 4/5 review here saying it's the best they've done since Uno. The reviewer compare FOAM to The Longhot and praise GD for not being that political this time around. Says the only problem is that 10 songs weren't enough.

i saw a couple newspaper/etc reviews from germany too .. honestly, the germans dont have a good taste of music or a sense for good music, even if Foam isnt what we expect from GD, its still a LP that contains very good and creative music

Yeah, German music journalists are pretentious af though. I read a 1,5 star review from Musikexpress which said that the best thing about the record is the short length and that we should all be thankful to them for making it that short. I guess they're just too cool so they can't like Green Day in 2020. What a shame, they miss out on a lot.

Its more of a relief that they didn’t go ahead and call the album “American Idiot 2: The father of all Motherfuckers” like they were originally thinking.

The band name is literally a reference to smoking weed. With it being legalized (in some form) in 33 US states, this should be far from controversial. At least in North America.
