GDFan2019 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 So, what song do you guys think will be the next single? 1 1 Quote

A lot of these songs involve drugs, paranoia, and money. There's the direct line of talking about doing coke. Also, he said hes worried he might be the next Rock'n'roll tragedy. I kind of get the vibe that he gets sketched out doing and buying coke. This is all just my theories based on the lyrical content. #cokegate 1 4 Quote
GDFan2019 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Sounds like the record skips on Stab You In The Heart 1 Quote
pouty bitch Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Okay, listened to it twice now, finally pulled myself together to write down some of my thoughts. As someone who prefers FBHT over GD, I'm extremely happy to finally get some Hot Tubs vibes from this era. I know back when FOAM was released, quite a few of you said it reminded you of the Foxies, but I really didn't feel like it was anything like FBHT and didn't at all think that would be the direction they were going in for this album at all. So glad I was wrong! I wasn't initially a fan of FOAM (the song), and while it has grown on me a little over these past few months, I'd say it's definitely one of the weaker tracks on this album. I've actually warmed up to FRA a lot. Thought it was shit at first, but now I'm enjoying it a little more. I really liked Oh Yeah back when I first heard it, and I'm still liking it now. It's nothing special, but I enjoy it at least. Now for the new songs: Meet Me on the Roof is groovy as FUCK. Definitely giving me FBHT vibes, and I couldn't be happier. Can't wait to listen to it again. I Was a Teenage Teenager - not really digging it yet, think it might be a little too chilled out for me, but hopefully it's a grower. Stab You in the Heart - very FBHT/Fuck Time, which I'm certainly not complaining about. Love it! Probably my favourite atm. Sugar Youth - One of my favourites so far. Really enjoy how upbeat it is. Also, the "And it's dangerous" line reminds me of She's a rebel. Junkies on a High - kinda has a weird/totally different vibe to it, which I was digging at first, but then I started feeling like the song was going on for too long and I got bored. 😕 Take the Money and Crawl - Another one with FBHT vibes, so I'm obviously loving it. Enjoyed it even more on second listen too! Graffitia - I'm liking it, not a favourite so far though. I do love the parts where it goes quiet though because Billie's voice is just I think on first listen I enjoyed this one more than I enjoyed Revrad the first time (aside from Bang Bang of course). It'll probably never be my favourite GD album, but I'm definitely loving the FBHT aspects of it. And I just wanna say I'm really happy that the 3 songs released before the album were some of the weaker ones, so I could be pleasantly surprised when I heard the album for the first time rather than being disappointed because they released the better songs first. Also, thanks to everyone who kindly pointed me in the direction of the leak, you guys are real G's 👊 Quote

That Dude Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Green Day have never been sunshine and puppies music, but the lyrical content on this thing is bleak. I love it! There moments where Billie is singing about having fun, but it's surrounded by bad culture and drugs. Yikes. Choking on smoke, poison, dishonesty, paranoia, mental breakdowns....and that's just the FIRST SONG!!!!! More dishonesty, smashing peoples teeth out. Face down in dirt. Scars, blood, bullets. Switchblade knives into chests. Fevers, Murder, shaking, burning, hell breaking loose! Getting sick, drinking, cocaine! Injuries, watching the world burn. This album should be called DVG. Dishonesty, Violence and Drugs. Quote

You can write about things you haven't experienced yourself at all. It could also be about past experiences. Obviously we don't know shit about his personal life so anything is possible, but you can't base suspicions like this on lyrical content in my opinion. Quote

Christian's Inferno! Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Why does the chorus to Stab You in the Heart sound so familiar? I'm sure there's a song that sounds near identical to that chorus Junkies On a High also really sounds like Nightlife to me The 2nd half of the album is by far the best. The singles are the weakest tracks, Teenage Teenager is also quite weak and Meet Me On The Roof is a good track but the last 5 tracks are fantastic. Also noticing references to past GD songs, including Peacemaker on Sugar Youth (I got a fever, a non-believer) Ik I said I was gonna go to sleep but I can't 2 Quote
