sorry i’m just a stickler about a lot of things and backing tracks are one of them. bands like imagine dragons, cold play etc have basically turned rock into straight up pop because of shit like that. i don’t mean pop in the “poppy” sense, i mean it in the unauthentic and overly produced sense. I just think it’s really really lame, that’s all i can say.

like why have 6 dudes on stage if you can’t make shift and fill in some sounds?

i’m sorry i seem judgemental but there’s always little things that get under my skin like that.

I’m fine with backing tracks in some aspects. Like if an artist has certain harmonies that blend only with their voice or something, that’s understandable. But yeah I think for Green Day and the amount of people they have it’s unnecessary and kinda seems like a put down to other members.

When reading this, blink-182 come to mind with their pre-recorded backing vocals XD

No offence to blink-182 fans, but this performance was pretty terrible and the backing track just made it even more cringe for me.

I still don’t get where you guys hear the backing track, maybe except for the clapping in the beginning, which could still be a hand clap sound on Jason’s keyboard, and anyway nothing that dramatic since it’s a TV performance and a fucking hand clap back sound :D
Billie clearly sings all the verses and chorus, the higher notes are always him, with Kevin, Mike and the two Jasons backing some parts like the oos and aas vocalizations (you can check this for each of the guys at 0:16, 0:30, 0:53, 1:00, 1:10 and many other bits in the the HD video). Maybe I am really missing something, can you point that out on the video? 😄

The "aaaah" and "oooh" in the background are the ones from the original track, they just sing them softly to not cover the original, that's why you barely can't recognize them.
For BJ's vocals, I don't know if it's his voice in the background or just Jasons helping him with the chorus when he says "jump!" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLrpsHoP8To - 1:53).

I thought that was the Jason's and Mike, pretty much as per normal?

Proof you have to be good to use backing track otherwise that's what happens to you

I still don’t get how you can tell the ooos and aaas are a backing track. You can see at least three people on stage singing those parts, and there’s a couple of bits where you can clearly see Kevin doing the “oos” vocalization. For the rest there’s the Jasons and Mike singing behind him almost all the time, again if they are singing how can you tell there’s a backing track there?
Either that or everyone on stage except Billie is lip syncing/has the mic off. Which  really doesn’t look like.

My opinion on what we've heard so far, should anyone care.

FOAM - decent enough but not lead single worthy, probably 4th or 5th single.

FRA - passable album filler only. Not promo worthy.

Oh Yeah - even as a b-side this would be a wtf were they thinking, let alone second single. Honestly ranks among their worst and gives me real fear for what else we're in for.

😂 yeah it was not their best. At blinks most recent show they had Toms vocals in for all of his songs to layer with Matt’s voice. Like not just backing but every part

I think it’s the effects and how they are way too close to the original

Really? Why did they do that? That doesn't reflect well on old Skiba... any clips?

Well, Green Day is playing with a backing track at least on FRA. The piano is identical, same with the "oohhs" and fx. Jasons are signing over that, but is a blend.

Nothing too extraordinary. Is how american tv use to work

Not at all nice to Matt. I actually think the layering sounded really good though haha. And I saw it on blinks reddit, but if you search up “blink 182 alter ego” it should come up

Thats criminal  Tom's vocals are so much higher in the mix than Matt's

7/10 is actually decent for GD at this point

You can set up a studio in your bedroom for less than $200 man. Really good quality $2000. That's all retail prices. You know how to work craigslist or have a network of musicians you can get really great deals. There's no barriers to entry for recording anymore.

I dunno about you but I worked during my teen years so getting this stuff wasn't difficult.

I borrowed my dad's computer microphone, downloaded creative wave studio (free edition) and BOOM.  I am a recording artist!

Been making records for 12 years and other than buying two low end guitars, haven't spent a dime.  Will I ever reach super stardom?  Probably.   And with little effort and no talent.  :)

I know right! Like the blend sounds really cool, but for every song it’s a little much. They even had Matt backing tracks for himself so idk why that’s happening.

We are on a forum dedicated to a man who pulled his penis out in public on many inappropriate occasions, including a charity event at Medison Square Garden and a live broadcast. Let's not pretend we're offended by an 18 year old in her bikinis.

Posts like these make it difficult to not spoil myself when the FOAM comes.

I am still holding onto the unexpected listen in May, while you guys will be fed up with this album.

Where do you find the restraint to wait until May...

She's a rich industry plant with a record label manufactured personality made to sell records. Her image is made to sell. Interesting how she's anti-objectification until she turns 18 and bikini pics are posted in mere days. She talks with a blaccent which is highly offensive. She's unironically said "I'm just a kid like you [fans] making music in my bedroom studio." Bedroom studio...which every fan has, right? I guess rich mom and dad never told her most kids don't have those. Oh and she spreads harmful messages about egosyntonic acceptance of mental illness. Granted she's a kid and a rich one at that, but people have given her word too much power. What other uneducated 18 yr old has such a public forum?

Don’t know anything about her setup, but if a bedroom studio is your problem with her that’s clownish. You can buy cheap interfaces and use GarageBand to have a basic studio. Friends have built small vocal booths for very little and had good results.

The backtracks with his vocals were in the video’s mix.

They totally used back tracks during the performance of father of all at those gaming awards too. You can find re watch that video. We hear two billies and you can clearly see it's not Jason or Mike singing.
