HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Once they had to physically or digitally ship the records for reviews and various promotional activities, while today I imagine they do everything through the cloud/dedicated streaming platforms. And that complicates the whole leaking process a lot. 1 Quote

Verycool99 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Wasn’t a fan of the vocal delivery live, especially the chorus 3 Quote
desertrose Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Just read the review from Entertainment Weekly on the album. Interesting take on it, calling the album at its best it sounds like a Queens of the Stone Age tribute band, among other stuff calling it a amped up dance party soul punk sound that we may not need. not a good review but I am still hoping it will be an enjoyable album to listen too despite the negative reviews i have read. 1 Quote

I could be mistaken though. At least FOA was 100% live when they did it. 3 Quote

Westerberg89 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 FRA sounded really bad. As did Basket case. I hate saying that but it’s the truth. Surely you can take your blinkers off and admit it? BC was slow and outta tune & FRA was just, wow, backing tracks everywhere, really poor vocal delivery. I still love the new songs and this is the most excited I’ve been for a new GD era ever. I’m just worried that years of booze and cigs has caught up with BJs vocal chords and really effected his range and delivery. 1 1 Quote

I still have to find a pro video of the NHL performance so I hold my judgement, people that were there seemed really well pleased with the performance. Anyway, before that each live set they did during this era smashed and was at really really high levels. I really don’t think Billie is having voice issues. 4 Quote
Popular Post dannygreen Posted January 27, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 27, 2020 I saw the videos, I don't really understand the criticism, it's an average Green day performance, nothing exceptional but good as always. Still wondering what's the matter about using backing tracks, since I remember they used them during 21cb tour and several bands use them live nowadays, not a crime against humanity, just an artistic and sound choice. He chose to lower the chorus of Fire, Ready aim to preserve his vocal cords maybe. Freddie Mercury did that a lot. Verses are spot on. If he's reaching his range limit with the verses this way He can relax a bit on the chorus and not hurt his cords Judging by the outfit must have been quite cold, remember it's never easy to play outside with the cold, expecially the first songs of a gig when you're not warmed up yet. 9 Quote

Everyone seems to think they did great but FRA sounds like a fucking train wreck in the videos I've seen. Too bad 'cause I don't mind the song, and I especially think Billies voice is pretty cool in it, so I was really excited to finally hear it live. Hopefully it'll get better as he sings it more often and they'll cut down on the backing tracks. Quote
Flashback Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I love the intro of FRA. To me the claps sound really powerful, but in a live performance I‘d prefer them playing without backing tracks (except BOBD, because it‘s BOBD 😂) 1 Quote
