You don't make music with a producer without pressure. You self-produce if you don't want pressure. They've had it with their label, they don't want to be there, I doubt they're actually super proud of this record, it's all politics. They have to say certain things (for now).

A lot of their songs have been better live than the studio versions. A lot of weird production.

Their albums since (and depending on taste including) 21CB sound too polished. They just don't have the same energy as the band has live.

Since 21cb. The last decade has been plagued with production issues but they also have made 0 steps to resolve it.

The production never really bothered me on the trilogy or RevRad. Love is For Losers production was a bit weird but was still fine. The production on these new songs is the first time it's bothered me though.

One Trilogy song they SHOULD be doing live is Dirty Rotten Bastards! Billie even said he wrote it as an arena anthem!!!! But then the iHeart incident happened and he tends to forget about the Trilogy songs

I think it fits more in a long club show, something like Irving Plaza. I just don't see it being done at a massive GD show.

I think it might be more or less the themes in the song. Themes of binging and recklessness associated with the events of iheart and the trilogy - might not be the best headspace for the band Idk

Some quick comments of various other things said in this topic:

21CB was perfect album production wise.

Green Day will never play Dirty Rotten Bastards.

God I fucking love Kill the DJ. Actually the whole trilogy.

Dirty Rotten Bastards has one really fast part that is pain in the ass to play. I'm pretty sure that Mike and other guitarists (Billie for sure wont play it) won't have good time with the song.

If there is one song from all of the trilogy that should be played live, there is no chance in hell it's some boring song like Dirty Rotten Bastards. I would really love to hear almost 50yo Billie doing screams in Let Yourself Go again, or even Jason White! Also bring back Sweet 16, Angel Blue, Stop When The Red Lights Flash, Fuck Time, Lady Cobra..

But tying that unpopular opinion to the topic that must be maintained, I hope there are Let Yourself Go level screamo moments somewhere in the upcoming FOAM album. It may be a huge stretch, but everything is at least somewhat ductile until the album comes out itself...
