This is just a bit of the original song from Joan Jett, which is sampled in Oh Yeah!

Is it confirmed that Joan Jett will be in Oh Yeah?

We just know that there’s some sampling of that song. I assume it will be the “oh yeah” part, but we don’t know for sure.

The article says there's a sample. It could also be a fancy work for a rip off, but they've never mentioned it when they borrowed from other songs, so I expect a genuine sample.

Now that I think about it, the original and less known “do you wanna touch me” is from Gary Glitter (ugh :S), so if they said a sample from the Joan Jett song, it means it is an actual audio sample from that version.

Who thinks this will be their favorite era?

If this won't be my last, I'll be stuck with this band forever.

(And I will be)

Nothing can beat being a teenager or pre-teenager in love with this band so, at least for me, there's no way this can beat the 00's in that sense, it's not what I'm looking for :)

I really hope Billie is right about hip-hop influences. I can hear a bit in Father of All... but nothing in FRA. I think that would be a cool path to explore.

wow, I just listened to Nightlife for the first time in actual years for the sake of posting that link and I forgot how terrible it actually is...

That is Green Day DOING hip-hop. I want to hear GD sound with hip-hop/Motown influences.

Kill the DJ :P

Even though I think it fell short of my standards in some ways, I think Kill the DJ was actually pretty good as a live track. The studio version didn't sit with me, one of the reasons being that as a person who tends to hang on lyrical content, I could not, for the life of me, understand why they wanted to make that particular track like a party/dance song kind of thing.

Also... I'm a huge fan of BJA's songwriting personally, but, your thoughts are so unholy in the holiest of holes? I actually love that line for many reasons, but I just can't sing or listen to it (or even type it here now) without an outburst of laughter 🤣

Tying this in with the topic though lol since GD are going for a more fun/party vibe with this record, I wonder if Kill the DJ might end up being something that sounds like it belongs on FOAM.

the song struck a chord with me because in my local scene everyone was pushing that dubstep shit all over. the way they would try to sell you on it is like an "onward christian soldier filled with jiving mind control". My whole argument before the song with people was that I don't need dubstep to dance I can make myself and others dance with my instruments. Then GD came out with Kill The DJ which was basically their shot at what I was saying.

The song was something I had that others didn't get to have at that time. I'm glad the dubstep thing died out. It was audio syphilis.

Makes sense 👍 I guess that me being the dumbass that I am, making everything political in my brain lmao kind of saw it as the wrong song to choose for that endeavor

This

Yeah directly the lyrics seem political but for me it was never a direct political statement it was more metaphorical.

The song in theory to me seems more like a Dos song though.
