I admit not knowing anything about Arctic Monkeys but SR-71 definetely has a song about always being kicked when they're high. In that case I'm sorry for misleading you @WhiteTim

blueshadows Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I understand why people can be less ecstatic about a joint tour, since tickets might cost more, will most probably be harder to get (but I'm also assuming capacity will be higher in venues chosen). Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But for me personally I don't see anything wrong with GD trying out something new. Sometimes new marketing strategies do pay off. I am not very familiar with both other 2 bands, only knowing a few songs from each band but FOB inducted GD to the Rock and roll hall of fame (from what I remember the inductee has to agree with the choice...), and are big GD fans, so both bands will probably enjoy touring together. As for Weezer, I've heard quite some good things about them. so I'm willing to see that tour if it's really happening and comes anywhere near me, and have to change to discover more two other bands that I would otherwise not see. the same would be true for GD, they will have two other fandoms listening to them. GD are well established and highly respected band already but why would they not try to get an even bigger audience ? Of course that being said, it'll make me really sad if GD plays anything less than 2 hours. I never understood why the guys can do a 2.5 hours + shows for a tours that has 100+ dates, so I'd totally understand if I'm the future they'd need to shorten it a bit as not to affect Billie's voice too much and have longer longevity in their career. Billie literally doesn't get any break (even during that medley where he is laying on the floor he still talks to entertain the crowd). It must be really difficult on the voice. So maybe a type of show like this rumoured one can help with that. anyway can't wait for Tuesday, hopefully there will be some awesome news!!

On the other hand, recent output from them (Teal and Black) have been not good lol. Quality over quantity boys. There are a few bands who put out as many 5 albums a year, and they’re incredible, but I know no one listens to indie music here. It’s not extremely different from Green Day’s music. Similar quality at least

Did you like any from this year? And if you liked nonagon, you might like the Oh Sees’, Carrion Crawler/The Dream or Ty Segall’s, Melted, Freedom’s Goblin and First Taste

Throw in a band like RHCP or Food or something like that and I might go You think they’d open for Foo Fighters? Theyll still be the headline act, and still have a full headline slot on that tour if it’s true. Weezer have opened for Foo Fighters and others and FoB just an expensive opener to try and tickets.
Flashback Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 The Facebook Event for the Hella Mega Tour on 06/13 says 7:30-11:30pm. Enough time for a full GD set.

I don't have a ~moral objection~ to them doing it but it just isn't something that I'd consider worth the money. I also can't really see a good reason for Green Day to do it. I get why Weezer or FOB would but GD are clearly the bigger ticket so what's in it for them? Weezer and FOB aren't "failures" but they're not as highly respected as live acts or as well known as GD, especially in Europe. Those three bands billed on the same level would be kind of weird here. To be honest from most people in the UK’s point of view it would just seem like they’re saying we can’t sell enough tickets anymore, so we’re taking two other bands that have struggled recently along with us. Weezer aren’t a well known name here compared with the US and Fall Out Boy’s last record was interesting to say the least. It makes me worry not only for this tour but for the band if this is what the management are planning on doing with them. Sure many in the US will think this is a big tour but over here it really isn’t appealing to many.

'hella mega'? hella awful...for me anyhow. hopefully it'll be a rather short run tour and we still get the traditional outing where GD does their thing. the silver lining is, this concert will be the catalyst that changes some kids' lives. Whats with all the edgy comments about Fallout Boy and weezer. We get it you dont like them and other people dont but others do. Stop being a little snob about these bands. What are you 12 ?
Jinxs Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I live in India and chances of Green Day playing a show here are very slim. I am just happy for new GD music but this co-tour idea doesn't sit well with me.

Some people here feel like Green Day is their ticket to music supremacy and act like bands like Blink, fob and sum 41 are shit while they have respected careers and albums better than some green day ones. Just ignore them. Also many others don't even have a music taste and just listen to green day religiously
