Rumours and whispers from those in the know say that is was to blow Blink 182 out of the water, which is something they're certainly doing. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, down by the riverside in Milwaukee, this question is put to Tré Cool. "We set out to reclaim our throne as the most incredible live punk band there is," he says. Who did you set out to reclaim that throne from? "You know who," he says smiling. "Not that they ever were the greatest live band, but with all of the young kids who were coming to see Blink it was nice to have a chance to wreck their whole perspective of how things are." Would it be fair to say that you're stealing the show every night? "Yeah, that would be fair." I thought I would have to work harder to get this stuff out of you, Tré. "Well it's the end of the tour," he says. "I don't give a fuck if they read it or not. They can't quit the tour now. That was one of the main concerns actually, that they were going to quit the tour because they were getting smoked so badly. That was something we heard. We were walking on pins and needles to make sure that their egos were stroked the right way." Words can't describe how much I love Tré
WorryRock02 Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 So this girl just met Green Day into a hall. I think she works for iHear Radio

Green Day Made In Brazil Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Anxiety has got me strung out and frustrated...

Going to try and go twice. Also, did I miss it. What proof is there of a joint tour? I just want to see them live, so would go to an areana tour, but would much prefer another sort of venue where I could actually SEE them..

I'm inclined to believe them because as much as I hate it, it's a nice money maker.

The only co-headlining tour I'd want more if a Foo Fighters/Queens of the Stone Age tour (they did it in South America and I want it in the US) Also, the Alt98.7 Instagram story about asking Green Day questions is gone now.

That Dude Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Going to be crazy once the dust settles and ALBUM XIII is with us. I'd love to hear the band address all the leaks and if any of the guessed song titles were similar to anything they actually wrote, or maybe even give away the fact that THEY were behind some of the leaks. I just un-deleted my track list from a while back to see what it looked like. I'd love to hear "Rome Falls", "Not my Hero" and "Faster Harder". MAGNUM OPUS is a pretty great title. The supposed artwork is pretty great artwork. Forget songs for Assholes, this album is NEAT NEAT NEAT. Also, can we never discuss that awful SONGS FOR ASSHOLES cover that leaked a while back? Gosh, that made my eyes bleed.

These aren't talks of a band comfortable in were they are and what they do. They almost broke up like a year or two later. Blink at the time where just a better band. More famous, cooler, mega hit makers and released a masterpiece in 03. Green Day of course managed to sky rock themselves in 04 and go to a zone blink will never go with other rock legends. But still this shit-talking from tre was childish and stupid.

I'll also add that I prefer the Untitled album to most of Green Day's discography, but I do overall definitely prefer Green Day. And Green Day definitely have always been the better live band. blink has never really hit the mark live except for around 03 and a few shows here and there. Untitled, Box Car Racer, and +44 are all fantastic.

To be fair if you read the whole interview (which I have, dunno where it is now though) it's more clear that some of his comments are in jest (especially the last part), like he also says something about Tom Delonge refusing to leave his trailer which is more obviously a joke. They really were showing Blink up on the tour and people knew it so there was some truth to it, and maybe there was some real bitterness about Blink being more successful at the time involved, but it was mostly just some tongue in cheek humour about the situation I think.

They talk about the competitive nature of the tour in the documentary too. At least according to that it seemed like the guys all had a good time touring together.
legendary Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 I was seeing the last announcement with Bang Bang and Billie almost did a countdown for It after official announcement for their Instagram. Can you guys check the time he announced it for the first time ? Was August 11, but I don't remember the hours.
That Dude Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Would be cool (and scary as heck) if Green Day advertised this album as THE FINAL GREEN DAY RECORD and did it in a way where we weren't sure if they were serious or not. We are Green Day fans and we deserve to have our emotions rocked as much as possible. That's the whole point, right? I'm still feeling the good vibes from the Slipknot concert Tuesday, and I'm more in love with music than I have ever been. I've never been to a large Metal show before, and the camaraderie was pure beauty. I'm more of an alternative guy and I was honestly worried that I would fit in. I didn't know if my Against Me! shirt would be okay or get me stabbed! But like my experience when seeing Green Day, the crowd was made up of a every type of human being. Every race, gender and age was there. Little Maggots (Slipknot fans under 10, I guess, haha!) and old people alike were rocking out. One guy said he was a Country fan but his curiosity got the best of him and he had to come and see what the fuss was about. Maybe it made a convert out of him, who knows? I believe that Rock is alive and well, but if you ever had a doubt, go to a show. Look over your shoulder and see 15,000 people screaming their lungs out with you. Maybe the cool kids don't like it. Maybe other genres will outsell it at times in history. But Rock n Roll is saving lives. Don't let anybody tell you different. Green Day's ALBUM 13 is going to help us through hard times, which we know are coming. And I look forward to that. Wake me up When September Ends, sisters and brothers. This ain't no meme-reference. I love Green Day and I'm ready to face the 2020's with them making the soundtrack to the future. LET'S GO!
