The Bellie Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 I love the artwork until here. Putting their faces on historical/religious figures (and well the historical often happen to be also religious but I bet it's not all about it. It's perhaps about a larger view of what are the roots of our western civilization which is notably based on religion, and through which a lot of it still function. At least, the conventional meaning given to religions one by one). One could say it's like a derision that they do these photo editings, or else it could be like a tribute, or both. Like Billie who thinks religion is a bunch of bullshit while also saying he's not agnostic. I love his take on it just from that, and although I can't pretend to know more about his thoughts on it than what's he's given us (there's definitely something in it I relate to but I believe everyone should have their own take on things such as religion anyway, so if he shares his thoughts through art, on which everyone has their own take, it's an awesome communicative way I'm only thankful for), I love that he wants to express his views on that, they are definitely interesting. About a classic art reference there's the Michelangelo in Longshots Kill Your Friends, with whom he seems to identify (at least in a metaphorical way). And that Virgin Mary on his guitar since many years. Clearly not an attempt to eradicate religion in itself but take what he sees in it while not being afraid of criticizing what it has been used for. Really, it may be simplistic but I love that a man who claims all the time "doesn't matter if you're white black brown gay bi trans" has this religion affection in a way or another, and shows it. You can be complex and have your own way with things. It's not forcibly 'I'm religious soI follow the conventional interpretation of the bible and condemn homosexuality' (like the current Pope who has not exactly condemned it but said it should be medically treated. Sad example from a huge religious figure, who has definitely done greater things than saying that), it's more 'I'm this and that in my own ways and I'm gonna show what comes from it, through art.' Also, the religion is a great example of a very strong establishment which yet can't fully resist to nowadays' change, at a high pace, of everything composing society. It is all being reviewed by changes coming from voices rising up that are accused of taking over as the new status quo. Minority today is tomorrow's norm, and vice versa with the backlash... Side note, I'll be happy to learn the meaning of foam and of every mystery the boys are putting on at the very last moment. Def makes it better. Also, don't know if one part of me is stoned though I don't do any drugs but I hardly care about where was that clip taken from and what producer or artist is involved and all. I just wanna enjoy the music when it'll come, and the teasing before it comes. Fun stuff

I keep in contact with a retro games podcaster and he saw GD in 2001 at Giants Stadium and he mentions that being the best show he's ever seen live Or wow haha makes me almost feel bad for Blink. Makes sense they were coming into their prime before AI.

jengd Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 I didn’t see the Blink 182/GD tour but everything I have read suggests GD blew them off the stage and I’ve heard Billie Joe say that’s what he wants to do many a time, including with them so I think it’s a brave band that tours with them as anything but an upcoming opener.
That Dude Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 1 hour ago, Beerjeezus said: It's extortion though. If it came to that we'd pay to watch Billie sleep onstage for 8 hours but it's not what we'd want. This show will be on September 30th and after a 2.5 hour nap, the people who paid for VIP get to go on stage and wake Billie Joe up. It's up to them how they do it, and extreme caution is recommended. They have to sign a waiver because Billie may just beat their ass. But he doesn't and is really cool and just sits down with them and talks for an hour. Summer is about to pass, guys. Anybody else get a weird feeling this time of year? I get something like chills or nervousness but it's a good feeling. In my chest....hard to explain unless somebody else feels it too.
Star-LordAndTheAve Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 If there is one great thing to come out of this on the Weezer side of things: If they play El Scorcho, Rivers will actually sing "I asked you to go to the Green Day concert" instead of replacing it with "Pixies" or "Foo Fighters" like they did when co-headlining with them both recently.

I keep in contact with a retro games podcaster and he saw GD in 2001 at Giants Stadium and he mentions that being the best show he's ever seen live They were smack talking Blink and talking about how they were upstaging them in interviews throughout the tour hahaha (all in "good fun" of course...). I think it was a bit of both though, Blink were very popular at the time so it was probably helpful to GD's career to tour with them at that point while still knowing they were really the better act Edit: This was Tre during the tour, hilarious: Spoiler Kerrang Magazine interview from June 2002: There is one red-hot question that surrounds the Pop Disaster tour, which is: why did Green Day take it? Rumours and whispers from those in the know say that is was to blow Blink 182 out of the water, which is something they're certainly doing. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, down by the riverside in Milwaukee, this question is put to Tré Cool. "We set out to reclaim our throne as the most incredible live punk band there is," he says. Who did you set out to reclaim that throne from? "You know who," he says smiling. "Not that they ever were the greatest live band, but with all of the young kids who were coming to see Blink it was nice to have a chance to wreck their whole perspective of how things are." Would it be fair to say that you're stealing the show every night? "Yeah, that would be fair." I thought I would have to work harder to get this stuff out of you, Tré. "Well it's the end of the tour," he says. "I don't give a fuck if they read it or not. They can't quit the tour now. That was one of the main concerns actually, that they were going to quit the tour because they were getting smoked so badly. That was something we heard. We were walking on pins and needles to make sure that their egos were stroked the right way."
clusterbomb Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 I heard a while ago that GD are playing with Weezer and fOB at 2 stadium shows in the UK next June... one in London and one in Yorkshire... something to do with new management...
DJ Rosstar Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Maybe #foamf meant foam on friday and it’ll be on itunes at midnight 🧐
Joe K Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Many people have asked about this already, but I am yet to see an answer. What´s the source for this Weezer/fob tour rumour?
Clockwise Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 I saw Weezer back in March and they put on a really really great show. It's been a while since I saw FOB but they've grown into a fantastic live act as well, I really don't think this package tour should be viewed as dismally as everyone here is making it out to be. Also - I guarantee Green Day will be the closing headliner and will not let having two other big acts on the bill take away from putting on the best show they possibly can. That much is guaranteed.

Idk if this is a rumour or just a hypothetical thing or what?

Christian's Inferno! Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Found the original source (p. 323). Nothing indicates that this is legit unless I've missed something 8 hours ago, Dirnt Dirnt Dirnt said: I'v tried to catch up and read everything in here, but that's basically impossible. I did see the tour with Weezer mentioned and can confirm that it is true. My friend works for NBC and they are doing a partnership with Live Nation to promote the tour and are having a contest to win tickets starting next week, I believe either Monday or Tuesday so that could line up with an album announcement and possible single. She sent me the calendar reminder she received form work so I 100% believe it to be true. The show with Weezer is happening in a baseball stadium in our city so it will not be until next summer most likely.
Flashback Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Wow sooner or later I will start believing that „Weezer“ means something in the Greek mythology and all the hints and artworks and leaks just mean that they release a collab with Weezer and go on tour with them. That‘s all, no new album or solo tour 😂
Doggins Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 I'd be happy to see Weezer support GD in Australia Weezer supported the Foos out here a couple of years ago
Hermione Posted September 5, 2019 Author Posted September 5, 2019 Shouldn't have expended thought and energy on this before checking the source . Definitely not concerned about it yet if it's just a vague rumour, even if it's true could just be a one off show or who knows what.
