Billie Joes Eyelids Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 I have a theory that there is direct correlation between the size of Billie’s beard and progress on the album.

If so, please upload them for us poor non-bay area souls. 4 minutes ago, neverdone2000 said: I have a theory that there is direct correlation between the size of Billie’s beard and progress on the album. and that theory would be.... ?

And side note @Admiral_Needa- I noticed there are a couple songs missing on your Youtube channel from the second San Francisco Longshot show (such as Bastards of Young and Neat Neat Neat); if you have them, could you post them there? Thanks!

At the Philly Longshot show I nabbed his lyric sheet. 😁. He usually uses one maybe he didn’t have it this time. 2 hours ago, Admiral_Needa said: And here it is too! Epic extra-long jam! And I swear not to start a debate about this (so please let’s not) but I thought it looked like coffee that he spit on your camera. You should know though if you got hit with it. Was it wine?
pacejunkie punk Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 And this belongs here. Enjoy the dancing:
Squashie Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 Nice lyric change, Billie. "She probably lives in Minnesota"

MillenniumFan Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Something about this live performance feels different. Don't know what it is exactly (besides the obvious things, like the beard), but it's both making me very excited and also heavily pushing outside of my comfort zone / kinda scaring me lol. Let's see what happens next...

MillenniumFan Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Well, I've only seen the recordings of a handful of Longshot live shows and I didn't attend any show in person, so I can't really speak representatively, but I'm speaking more of the stylistic element of that show, rather than than of say the energy. From what I gather the Longshot shows were very high-energy, bouncy and fun. This show on the other hand isn't that necessarily, but it stills seems a bit like a loose cannon, off the hip, somehow stylistically more open, very raw (in a good or bad way, depending on how you define it). So yeah, different somehow. Though then again, I could have missed a lot of this in previous Longshot concerts...

Let's see what happens next... I think it's because it's covers. Instead of being in full on "frontman mode" (that Billie's in when fronting Green Day and other bands where he wrote the songs) he's in "playing in another band mode" where he's a bit less of a showman and it's more just about playing the songs and things are more informal. It's a bit like when he's in Pinhead Gunpowder or playing with random bands but in this case he is actually the frontman just with that same vibe, so it is kind of unique. It's cool! 4 hours ago, Admiral_Needa said: Could you use the default font colour please? Different colours can be hard for people to read
pacejunkie punk Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 To me it seems like he’s still in Longshot performance mode but the guys in The Coverups are more chill (well Jason let loose a bit here but still) so the difference is more jarring but still not unusual for Billie.
MillenniumFan Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Lol, this is probably when a 14 year long fan of Green Day has to admit he probably still doesn't now sh*t about the individual members, behaviourally at least. Yup, that's me...

Yup, that's me... I agree with you anyway . I don't think it's crazy different but it has its own unique vibe. They're similar in that they're both small unpredictable shows but Longshot has more of a party vibe (party type songs and Prima Donna members involved) and Billie's presenting his own songs being more of a showman, Coverups is just assorted covers so it's more laid back and more just like, I'm one of several guys playing these songs that other people wrote.
Squashie Posted October 1, 2018 Author Posted October 1, 2018 What Hermione said. More just play the songs and have fun than trying to emote what the song means. Who knew Jason had those moves in him! 😂

He’s usually still as a stone but then he’ll let loose and whoah 😱 He chooses his moments well.

Yeah, thanks, tbh that kinda sums up what I meant, but failed to express I think what appears different to me, although you're right, it's nothing dramatically different, nor is it a new thing, is the laid-back, kinda unpressured nature of that show. I know the Longshot shows were also certainly a lot of fun and relaxing in their own way, but they still wanted to put on a show, if that makes sense. And that's also the problem with GD shows, I would imagine they might be very physically and mentally drainig after a prolonged period of touring. I think the guys all love touring and it's great that they do it, but I also think it would do them (and Billie in particular) some good to let loose a bit and to not feel under any obligation or public pressure to perform in any certain way or to meet any expectations. The Longshot shows already offered that to a certain extent, but this concert it would seem even more so, and that is, especially with a view towards the next album, a very good thing.
