Hey now, I think you're forgetting their ability to turn a 2 minute song into a 20 minute medley packed with heeeeeeey-ooooo's.

That’s why since it is also an AI anniversary year I speculate that they could combine them. The two albums together and some extra encore songs could make a complete show.

That would be a whole new level of setlist predictability.

We’ve already seen them do Dookie in full fairly recently but I actually would love to hear AI start to finish because it sounds best that way and they didn’t just do it.

Some of my favorite bootlegs are the AI full-album shows they did back then. Who knows what will come of all this, but a Dookie/Idiot tour would be stellar to my eyes and ears.

I don't want to get too excited, but that would be freaking amazing if they did a Dookie tour. But I would be worried they'd just do a one-off in Cali meaning I would miss it

I would appreciate it if everyone could collectively stop losing their shit over this. I'm so tired already of all the "POSSIBLE DOOKIE TOUR?!?!?!???!" headlines by music magazines and whatever. like for the love of god, please, for once in your life, chill

they're taking selfies and having band practice, as bands do, there's nothing mystical or secretive about it

A Dookie tour would be cool and I would go in a heartbeat but I would honestly rather them just put a special edition of the album maybe remixed or even rerecorded and work on some new stuff. A large portion of their setlist is comprised of Dookie/AI songs as it is would actually like to see a tour where they cut back on those songs.

Looks like I'm the only one who doesn't want a Dookie or an AI tour? I don't want to spoil the hype for you guys but damn I'm wiggered.

Another tour so soon would be amazing and I'd love to hear stuff like Novacaine, Homecoming, Whatsername and Coming Clean. On the other hand it would be so nice to see them work on the next album instead and get all the excitement and hype that brings.

I'll be happy no matter what happens, as long as it's something. But I'd prefer them just working on another album. I'm desperate to see them live again ASAP but even more so for new music and a new era.

I'm with you, I saw them play Dookie in full and it was cool but it's not THAT great. I mean it was cool to hear the songs from it I hadn't heard yet and the novelty of the whole album, but they already play like half the album at every show anyway lol (which they also do with AI). It didn't even make the show much different as the songs they don't already always play only add up to about 15-20 minutes. JUST playing Dookie or even AI wouldn't be anywhere near enough for a show and wouldn't consist of playing many rarely played songs at all.

If it was any other album maybe it would be an exciting idea but they've already played those two in full before, and already play half of them at every single show so like, meh.

Also those articles are so dumb, they didn't "tease a Dookie tour" they just had band practice . I honestly find it tiresome how any time Dookie is mentioned baseless speculation goes into overdrive (eg "UNO DOS TRE WILL SOUND LIKE DOOKIE!!!" and "I'M SO DISAPPOINTED UNO DOS TRE DOESN'T SOUND LIKE DOOKIE THEY PROMISED IT WOULD!!!" all because they at one point described the stage of album making they were at as "back to the roots" of making an album ).

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. It wasn't at the shows where they played Dookie in full but I don't really see the appeal of it (or AI) when they play most of these albums regularly anyway :P plus I think predictable setlists make shows less exciting and you know, playing songs in album order is probably the only option that could make their setlist even more predictable.

I was a little surprised by the number of media headlines I saw over one post from Tre, but I just never expect them to do what everything thinks they will, they always seem to come out of left field.  Happy to just wait and see what’s next but very happy to see them together again, even if they are just having fun.

Gosh, I just saw that pic, haha... Actually, like someone said, a tour would be fine but not that ''different'' 'cause 90% of the songs they would sing is basically what they usually play and... for re-recordings and special editions, PLEASE, NO, don't touch that record. And I'm pretty sure Billie Joe's on line with me. Also, we already have b-sides from Shenaningans, CD singles and demos surfaced online. A DVD would be cool, instead, including the Chicago show like someone mentioned, or maybe a collection of TV performances from those days, I don't know. But the band rehersals pics I've seen let me think about.... yeah, a tour where they play the record, eheh... Sorry for not being that active. I mean, not 'cause someone misses me but 'cause it's me missing your interesting conversations, Lol Have a great summer, guys 🙂

I am with you 100%.

I absolutely love the idea of Dookie&AI tour! I heard whole Dookie live in 2013 and it was so emotional that I don't remember anything

As someone who didn't get to see Dookie in full I'm behind this idea 100 percent. Seeing as it's my fave album I think it would be cool.

I loved what they did in 2013 because ot was a surprise and just a couple of shows but I don't think I'd be very excited if I was going to a show knowing exactly what they would be playing.

But then again, their setlists aren't full of surprise anyway so maybe it wouldn't be that different

yeah their set lists on the last tour were like 90% identical at every show 😂

*99%

Seriously, during some legs, they changed virtually nothing at all and had week-long streaks of completely identical setlists. Not only that, their setlists had a strong over-reliance on AI / Dookie material and usually not the songs that you don't hear very often. So, actually, I'm in support of this ''idea'' (invented mind you by us, not them, this is of course pure speculation), for two main reasons:

1. I would love to see them perform those albums live front to back. I've always been a little jealous of the people that got to see full Dookie at Reading back in 2013, but even more so of those that witnessed the club shows in 2004/2005 and 2009. As someone mentioned previously in this thread, some of the bootlegs of those shows are absolutely amazing. So, a Dookie / AI anniversary ''club'' tour, would be great in my book. Not least, because I would get to hear rarer songs like: Having A Blast, Chump, Pulling Teeth, Sassafras Roots, Coming Clean, Emenius Sleepes, In The End, F.O.D, Homecoming, Whatsername, She's A Rebel, Give Me Novacaine and Extraordinary Girl.

2. This would give them a chance to milk the sh*t out of these albums, not just through the tour itself, but through plenty of merch, boxsets or vinyl reissues and thenmove on. That is to say, they could leave some of those albums' ballast behind, dive headfirst into new projects and also completely revamp their live act by for example updating the setlists, special effects and overall procedure. It would be a possibility to start with a clean(ish) slate. From what I've seen, this kind of thing can often be very beneficial for creativity, so I think it would only be a good thing for the band and us fans.

The idea that they'd eventually revamp their live act is nice but it seems Billie would prefer medieval torture to playing a less known song.

At least these days.

...and yes I know that they never really heavily changed up their setlist, but they did it more than they do now, ok.

It's cool to see Dookie in full but it's seriously not enough for a whole show. It isn't even the majority of the show, it's just like an extra in the middle, like an extended version of the part where they play mostly older songs. Look at this setlist, they hardly had to cut any songs to fit those few extra short Dookie ones in so it was barely different

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/green-day/2013/o2-academy-brixton-london-england-33c614d9.html

To make a whole tour out of it there'd have to be more to it than just the playing Dookie in full idea. Just seems better suited to be something added to an existing tour (as they did, and as they also did when they played AI in full) than a reason for a tour in itself.
