Like Tre did with Dead mermaid?

And Mike selling coffee?

You know what I mean. I've put my thoughts in here enough times

I actually like the vocal filters

Not a fan of Body Bag, too monotone and sounds kind of like Weezer to me. None of these songs have grabbed me at all so far. I really can't see myself listening to this when I could just listen to Green Day instead :ermm:

Yeah at first I thought they were a bit much, but hearing more of the songs I think it fits the style of them.

I got it — it’s “Gunslinger, dead ringer and Michaelangelo”

And wow I fucking love this song

Good job on figuring out the lyrics! This song is amazing. Love the way he sings "One finger on the trigger and one on the stereo, I think you're killing me with kindness...".

And "We got thoughts and prayers, nothing comes of mine and I don't even care" is another great line.

just listened to Lazy Bones, eh I mean Kill Your Friends. It's ok

Very happy to get a full version of body bag, I’m actually glad they haven’t changed it too much. Kill Your Friends is cool, I like the lyrics a lot and don’t think it’s a bad thing that the melody is reminiscent of older songs. With any musician that’s been around over 30 years that’s going to happen, and I don’t believe it diminishes the quality of either.

Not a fan of Kill Your Friends and Body Bag right now... I'll give them a few more listens then decide

Body Bag is awful.

Same. Good thing they released the other three songs first, or I'd be a lot less optimistic about this project.

These lines are gold. I seriously can’t get enough of this song. I’m surprised so many people seem ambivalent but I guess that’s how it goes. I like them better than much of RevRad. And I’m not hearing Lazy Bones in it at all.

Their side projects are pretty branched out. When Billie collaborated with Norah and came out with Foreverly, it was so damn good. His raw voice. Tre made the dead mermaids, and showed that he can play metal too. As for Mike, he’s been through a lot. Britt kicked off cancer, and he made a coffee brand. That’s huge. So, they are branching out. It’s not like, they’ve compacted themselves in a small stream, they’re sailing an ocean full of different islands, and exploring them.

Damn. Makes me wanna listen to Foreverly again!

Last night, when these songs dropped:

Me: "Hey honey, come listen to Billie's new side project... I want us to fly to New York to see them!"

*plays Body Bag for first time*

Us: :really: :really:

Brandon is not convinced that this is a good plan. He looked at me like I was crazy.

I'm not getting the Lazy Bones vibe from Kill Your Friends, it sounds more like a song from Uno, maybe Rusty James? I don't know.

I don’t think it sounds like anything but in subject matter and style it fits nicely alongside Murder City And that’s a compliment. That’s the only song I think of but not because I think it’s a copy or anything.

To be honest, I was never much a fan of BodyBag, it's just too - I don't know - simplistic. Too high and sweet. For me it's all about Devil's Kind, that's the real song :toocool:

If Body Bag wasn't recorded again, I don't expect that Devil's Kind has some special treatment.

Dreamcatcher is still on due. Maybe for another record :(

The way he is singing the bridge on Kill Your Friends is the same way he sings the verses on Lazy Bones

Yeah, it's just that one part that's really obvious.

I knew Love is for losers reminds me of something. It's waiting! I quickly recorded the Waiting riff over it :D

can anyone explain me the meaning of body bag?

body bag and kill your friends are great. more killer power pop from this man. stoked he included body bag and devils kind in this project, love those songs and would've been bummed if they got left by the wayside. absolutely fucking love how lo-fi and blown out the production on body bag is. hope he does more production like this in the future. the vocals, lyrics, all around these two songs god damn rip imo and i couldn't be more hyped to hear them live in a week.

Can’t we just accept now that vocal filters are a thing, the conversation doesn’t need to be brought up every time a new song comes out because it kind of overshadows how nice it is to have music. The only thing bothering me slightly about this side project is the absence of Mike and Tré, it feels a lot safer than other side projects. Not a criticism just personal preference, the songs are still a lot of fun.

Nice to have music and nice to discuss every aspect of that. If the vocal is annoying I will repeat it and grumble each time

I do not like Body Bag beacuse of that sugary Billies voice

I don't get people saying "uugghhhh let's not discuss this or that!!!!". If it's about the music then yes, let's discuss it. Personally I don't care about which old GD songs sound similar to The Longshot ones but I'd never tell people to not talk about it because it's relevant for the discussion whether I care about it or not.

On topic Kill Your Friends and Taxi Driver are so insanely catchy. I can't get them out of my head for even a second and I love it. The weekend can't come soon enough, I need that full length version of Happiness!

But whining about the use of vocal filters isn’t gonna change the fact that there’s fucking vocal filters. Discussing what the songs sound like is interesting because people have different interpretations 🤷🏼‍♀️
