It's a random phrase that the boys have invented (or taken from Family Guy), which has been shared and reused multiple times amongst Green Day fans. It's referenced often (or has been)! It's not a big meme but a community meme nonetheless You can make anything a meme if you repeat it often enough

People just say it because they say it but it never means anything else nor do they add anything. That my friend is a running joke/inside joke. NO MEME

The fact that such a clip exists with nearly 300,000 views suggests that it might have and could qualify as an internet meme. A meme is anything anyone makes a meme. It doesn’t indicate viral. More Caddy means: It’s so ubiquitous that looking for caddy memes, I found a meme about Caddyshack memes!

That my friend is a running joke/inside joke. NO MEME A meme can be a running joke but he/she is right, it’s definitely a meme by definition. Memes existed before the internet. A meme can be said even. Shut up Greg happened from the chick that did that hashtag to Greg and had no idea that there was a popular Family Guy moment when Meg (who is always picked on from the family) when they were going on a game show, they thought she was a boy and “shut up meg” is a popular line from that show so they changed it from that to when she says “but I’m a girl” he says “shut up Greg” instead of meg. Shut up Greg above but here’s a meg for context. Are we all taking notes for the pop up quiz? meme mēm/ noun an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation. a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.

Hermione Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 OK so I know this started as discussion of Billie's comment at a Longshot show but it's a rather off topic debate now . Let's accept there's different definitions of meme and get back to The Longshot. (this is aimed at no one in particular btw, the discussion has just naturally strayed off topic)
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted April 15, 2018 Author Posted April 15, 2018 I can't believe we've had intense discourse about abbreviations and memes both over the course of one weekend and in the same thread. Last time I felt like this was at Christmas when I still believed Santa exists.

Malleus Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 This was an enjoyable EP. It sounded good, although the songs didn't really hook me that much. Chasing A Ghost is my favorite. Comfortably putting this on my "when I'm cleaning up or playing video games" playlist.

(Polaroid camera seems to malfunction in low light) Billie Joe: "Hey, you're not a professional!" lol When the photo finished developing, we all thought it turned out great. Should have stood behind her and taken one myself! Oh well, maybe next time...
Tyler96 Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Don’t know about you guys but after hearing some of the new unreleased songs on the clips from the gig the other night.. I am now itching to hear the actual recordings! Maybe I am just impatient.

What is promising from the recordings is that it looks like Billie didn’t necessarily release the three strongest songs for the EP.
Chin for a Day Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 I really liked Turn me loose. It sounds like something Elvis Costello would record.

Everyone seems to have different favorites though. I wonder if these were his favorites or there was some other reason he chose them as most representative of the range of sound or something.
dallasthemenace Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 'sounds like it could be a PHGP song' has my attention, but i think im most anxious to hear the ozzy cover...
Clockwise Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 I wanna know more about the choice to start a new project, I wonder if Billie will do any interviews for it? My guess is probably not. Part of me wonders if he's doing this because he didn't want to slow down but Tre and Mike aren't ready for the Green Day train to start again just yet. I mean who cares though, new music from Billie is great and I'm loving all these songs. Just some curiosity.

Is Billie doing this while he waits for Mike and Tre (who don’t really seem to be doing much) or are Mike and Tre waiting for Billie to finish his pet project and accumulate enough Green Day songs for them to start working on an album together. In the past it seems that way, that Billie is the one who says I have enough songs I want for Green Day now, let’s do this.
That Dude Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Did I see someone talking about there only being a vinyl release? I want a compact disc version, dang it! Maybe they were talking about the EP - I hope so. Anyway. I just got home and typed in "Longshot live at 1234 go" and they have what appears to be the whole show on there.
