But I just noticed the lyrics are all PG. Nothing wrong with that, they have emotion and impact - Billie doesn't need 15+ F words in a song to make a point.

Maybe you should go back in time to 2010-2012 and tell Billie that I kid, but really, a lot of the trilogy had so much obscenities just thrown in for no reason

Uno had F-bombs exploding around every corner, it was astounding! Haha So far I haven't heard a single one from these Longshot fellows.

Johnny Higher Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 The lines in Chasing A Ghost remind me Sam Cooke's Twistin' The Night Away: Chasing A Ghost: Everyone's happy and everyone's gay Feelin' the spirit and twistin' the night away Twistin' The Night Away: Where the people are so gay Twistin' the night away

Just very obscure and some intentional, some not. I mean even Like a Rat Does Cheese was a Miami Bass crew.

I didn't like it at all when I first heard it but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. But Chasing the Ghost has made me forgive Billie for not accepting this 20+ year fan on The Longshot account. My only regret is that Tom Petty is not alive to play on the song with him. It is Tom Petty meets punk. LOVE IT!!! I'm less than a 2 year fan but I forgive Billie as well for not having accepted me, because he's making every single day of my life in more than one way. Also, I wish I could love your post more than once! I wish I would sing like he always did, I don't know why he force himself with that pronunciation... He has a really great voice, I don't understand why he's feeling, recently, the urge to sing like someone else. I don't know, he sounds like a different person, in that sense. Billie's articulation has always been a thing I've most of the time needed lyrics written next to me to understand what Billie sings, even though I speak and write fluent English. No matter the album. The worst being Insomniac, and by far but with Chasing a Ghost I still could hear mostly everything after a few listens. I actually agree Billie has many ways of making his voice sound. I don't find him to sound like someone else now, to me it's just one of his ways of singing. As they are sometimes very different, we can easily have our favorite among his different ways of singing. I like the messed up articulation, I don't know why though, since the first time hearing I don't understand much 3 hours ago, disappearingfs said: That said. I NEED THAT EP. Me too, but I didn't get much of how the EP is gonna be available now. I agree that they throw in a lot of stuff but “sending all my love to you” is a bit of a stretch if you ask me as it’s a pretty used term. Using the same song, are they referencing Chaka Khan with “through the fire”? I would say no but: Even the TITLE of the song is the title of a U2 song. That’s a more direct reference too yet they definitely weren’t thinking of U2. Ill name some definite homages, again like “Rat does cheese” and maybe you’re actually right here but I think it’s just a phrase. “Send my love to...” is just so common.
pacejunkie punk Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Is there an official Longshot YouTube channel? So many people have the songs uploaded I search and see all those but can’t find an official page for The Longshot.
l3tt3rb0m8 Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 The new songs Billie released for The Longshot, in my opinion, shows his age. when he was young he was raw with sound and lyrics hyped up on drugs depression and all the things of being a teen. When he was a young adult he and the band pushed for a revolution and used their songs as messages for what they believed in and gained popularity for saying the truth and speaking their minds (taking risks). Now their older, wiser, lived life to the fullest and have years of wisdom. so now were seeing a more mellow Billie and man that is calmer and realizes he has a fan base that will listen so hes more calm in his demeiner hes being sinsear. when everyone gets older their personality becomes calmer and more focused on life and i beleive its that point in billie life where he just wants to enjoy it not fight against it. so this album is most likely going to be calmer more of a chill day style album and frankly i cant wait !!!!!

Yeah, like I said he always had his particular ''articulations'' making his singing recognizable back in the 90s. That ''weird'' thing I'm talking about started in 2011 and with 2012's trilogy. When I mention the ''I wanna sound like I'm younger'' thing is 'cause Billie Joe always talked about the trilogy like something to go BACK so I linked those 2 things and thought, '''Ok, so maybe that's why he's trying to sound younger''. Of course the vocal filter is important too, but it's not that hard to get that change I mentioned. Just compare, I don't know... ''Youngblood'' and ''Sweet 16''. He sings with a total different accent/articulation. And I'm not talking about the vibe you put on a song. Emotional for a sad song or loose-ish for a funny song. Or maybe it's just me... He also speaks with an higher voice nowadays and... thinking about it now... it's not that different from the nowadays singing. So maybe that's why I hear those articulations louder... 'cause he sings higher nowadays. I mean, it's hard to explain, le'ts say the same note but in a different way. Ahh, I don't know, haha! Yes, I logged in into Spotify only recently 'cause I don't like to download things, it's a prettty fair middle-road. Hoping for the real thing, one day :-) 11 minutes ago, pacejunkie punk said: Is there an official Longshot YouTube channel?
