The Longshot

Okay okay, I’m pretty sure I’ve figured some of this out. Billie is clearly involved as we all know already, the same can possibly be said for Jeff. However, I believe that there are possibly two other people that could be involved in this. One is Kevin Preston, who plays guitar and vocals and was a part of the Foxboro Hottubs, and the other is David Field, who plays drums. They are both part of the band “Prima Donna” (who happen to follow the Longshot on instagram). In one of the photos posted by the Longshot(the one in a car with Jeff) there is a drum kit that has the Prima Donna band sticker on it, which indicates it obvously belongs to David. Along with this a photo of Kevin’s cat was also posted by the Longshot. This all seems to add up to the point where they surely have to be involved in it, especially considering their instagram is also followed by Jeff and the Longshot.

You beat me to it. I was going to post this tweet I found, which pretty much confirms what you said.

Assuming for a second that this project is b-sides AND covers, Soul Surrender is the name of an Against Me! track, whom we know the band toured with. I'd love to see an Against Me! cover, as they've become one of my favorite bands since seeing them with Green Day in St. Paul last year.

Opening acts always talk about how much they've learned from Green Day after a stint opening for them, but I always wonder what Billie and the guys learn from the bands they bring with them on tour. It will be interesting see if any of them have influenced the sound of this project or any future Green Day records.

Hi everyone! I'm one of the two girls who figured out Kevin Preston and David S. Field's connection to The Longshot (the tweet that neverdone2000 quoted was from the other one)  We're big Prima Donna fans, which is how things quickly clicked for us (the hints Verycool99 talked about as well as other clues). We wanted to wait and see if other people would figure it out (we've personally LOVED this treasure hunt and thought it would be cool to let others find the clues by themselves  ) but looks like we've been too chatty about it  We've been vocal with Billie Joe and Prima Donna (and Jeff, though we have less connections regarding him) that we'd had this figured out, and despite the lack of reaction from any of them, I think we can safely say that Kevin and David's involvement is confirmed from the number of hints there are. What that implies for the project though (and whether or not Mike was talking about it or his magnificent beard), we don't know. Kevin being part of Foxboro Hot Tubs, I think it can only mean great things  We've tried figuring out all posts that aren't directly related to either Billie or Prima Donna but so far we didn't really find anything. But if the cat is out of the bag now, we thought we might as well join the fun!

On the scribbled content, not much (except that they forgot to cover the snare ), but I think it can only confirm that David Field's on the drums. It can be a stretch but my ex-drummer instinct is telling me I could be right:

What the hell does "CTLA" mean though? It's clear they left it here on purpose.

For this I’m sure he’d be willing to come to CA for awhile. It seems that he’s definitely involved.

obviously. the idea of the b-sides is that the instagram isn't for a band, but for some oddball weirdo reason they created a whole instagram account for an album. now that sounds RIDICULOUS, but let's be real, ridiculous is BJA's new nickname lately.

While I completely agree that I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled something like this, the account's bio does precise "New album “Love is for Losers” coming eventually". If Love Is For Losers is the album title, then what could "The Longshot" be besides a band name?

I think The Longshot is a brand new side project, nothing Green Day related (besides of the members of course ). Since we know guys from Primadonna are involved, I think it's very unlikely that they're working on the Green Day b-sides compilation. It could be something like Foxboro Hot Tubs 2.0 - I bet they know that people really really want their come back, so it would be good cause to make such a mystery out of it.
