Honestly, I'm just more interested in seeing where this goes in terms of potential live performances.

This song live and also Chasing a Ghost would be :runaround:

Honestly I don't expected anything new about Green Day at this time, only few months after RevRad Tour ends.

So, I'm glad that Billie Joe always surprise us with things like this, it's fucking good!!!

I see the similarity with Waiting but without having read you guys I wouldn't have

Oh really? I thought of it immediately. It didn't bother me, but I noticed the similar melody right away.

I'm kinda annoyed because I'm busy with college assignments atm so I can't really listen to this song much right now

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I'm in love with his vocals drowning in reverb here.  I prefer this much more to his high clean vocals as of late

That was really nice to wake up to. Love the Hot Tubs vibe that I'm getting from this, and I can hear some similarities to prior material. Not a big deal, when you've been doing it this long, you're bound to repeat yourself more than once. But I can hear fell for you in places, too dumb to die, and a part of the bridge reminded me of pop rocks and coke.

All really great songs!

there you go. That’s what I figured out 😊

And yes, It’s in Standard

I just played along with it, and even though I haven't quite mastered a B chord yet, it sounded pretty darn good!

Now I do hear the similarities to Waiting and other songs but honestly all Green Day songs kinda sound the same at some point. But I really love it Billie's lyrics have been sub par since the trilogy but this feels like a step up. The line about our delusions and old flames made me stop and think for a second and that's all I ever ask.

I'm not very good with sound engineering etc. but I just noticed the compression used on the track. I'm pretty sure it's the 'fault' of the radio show, but most importantly it may be possible that this compression made the vocal effects, the previously mentioned fishbowl, stand out even more.

Ignore if this was already discussed.

My heart is a ?????????????? for my long lost valentine.    What is he saying there?

Also, do we have complete seemingly correct lyrics?  I've been searching and can't find them.

I tend to fall in love with songs while reading the lyrics while listening.  Even if I know the words sometimes it takes letters on screen to connect at first.

We have unconfirmed lyrics on page 55 of the thread

Yes. Longshot confirmed this in a reply on the account.

Lyrical analysis:

In the first verse, Billie Joe is riding shotgun in the Holiday / Boulevard of Broken Dreams-mobile .  He's stranded in the City.  Perhaps we'll find out who is driving later on, but I like to think it's his wife.   Band member would be another guess, but for my theory I say Mrs. Armstrong.

The chorus is him quoting someone that is talking to him.   someone is telling him he's a loser for being in love.  And he says....."alright!"

The Bride of Frankenstein could be a pet name for his wife, and he's saying goodbye to Amanda because, well because it's been decades and he's over it, that's why!!!   That girls probably married to  a corporate blowhard and knitting his sweaters in 2018 anyway!!!!

So he wraps things up by saying that love may be pain, but it's better than having nowhere to run to make the tears go away.   Love hurts, but it hurts oh so good.

I feel like it's an upbeat twist on "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" in some ways.  It's kind of the opposite.  He's been found by his wife and despite people telling him he's a loser and shouldn't settle down (because he's a big rock start and could have Amanda, the girl of his dreams if he wanted to) ....he decides that in Billie Joe Armstrong fashion, - that being a loser is cool, so he's owning it.  I'm a loser and I love it!   I'm a loser, my wife is a loser and our fans are losers.....and we should all celebrate!!!!

Hurting is good.  Being a loser is good.  Celebration!

It sounds really good to play along. Umm, you can try the power chords, that’d help.

I'm so excited to to say in my very first post that I was just accepted on the Instagram account tonight. I have been refreshing that page for days and tonight finally was the night. Now I can finally sleep 😋

This song sucks. Its as bad as that xmas song a few years back.

Boy do I wish Billie would call out corruption and sing some truth, but I really do like this song and I love him for how poetic and brilliant he really is.

Nice analysis. I could definitely see this. I could also see the first line being less specific and more symbolic of him being a passenger on a journey that's falling apart. Sort of like something is headed to an end of some kind and he's not really in control of it.

I thought Adrienne at first too with the bride of Frankenstein but it could also be Amanda or a former love as well. i kinda see that verse as him talking about going after someone who isn't exactly desirable to begin with and he's realizing now that he was delusional to think that's what he wanted.

I'm not really sure on the third verse because not knowing the last line I think really affects what it could mean.

How are we sure Devils Kind will be on this album?

Posted

did the latest clip just hint at joey on drums???

I've not read the last 9 pages or so so forgive me if I'm missing anything but...not too hyped about the song. Pretty dull Trilogy fare if you ask me, and I very much hope that production is just down to the radio and the proper thing doesn't sound like that.

Cool. I’ve been wanting a studio version of that song since it came out (as have we all).
