Okay so I clearly can't keep up like everyone else. Where's this song that everyone's talking about?

A band called the Longshot just previewed it’s first song. :runaround:

For those complaining that Billie Joe recycled “Waiting”, that melody wasn’t even his originally, so I feel like that argument isn’t valid. Take a listen to “Do You Wanna Dance” by the Ramones and originally by Bobby Freeman. It’s a common progression.

As far as the song, it’s really grown on me after a few listens. The guitars are great, but Billie’s voice is definitely buried in the mix at times and I wish some of the hi hats were louder. Between this and Chasing A Ghost I’m excited for the record!

And and and Devil’s Kind!

Well I for one, PERSONALLY, think that ONLY American Idiot is real music and everything before and after that was utter GARBAGE. I HATE change and I hate when Green Day produces anything else that isn't a complete replica of the 13 songs. Longshot can eat a bag of DICKS. And anyone else's opinion sucks because I AM THE EXPERT.

People on the forum can not like their music sometimes. Its not sacrilegious. Peak your head out of their asses for a minute.

It sounds fucking great. I think It's deliberately reverb heavy vocal wise. Harking back to the Replacements and Husker Du. It may borrow the beginning part of the melody from 'Waiting' in the chorus, but I don't think it takes anything away from the overall song. I definitely like it.

Yes! Devil’s Kind and Body Bag.

We all know how they’d sound like, but then, Billie would certainly tweak a bit.

I so wish it’d be Tre playing the Drums. His energy make the songs just so good!

No problem. Just didn’t want someone searching in vain or thinking they were missing out. I can’t wait to hear those songs as well as the rest of the album. The more I hear LIFL the more it sounds like Cheap Trick to me which is a very good thing. This is just a good time.

Yes. I’ve heard it like 50 times already. Sometimes, all you need to do is keep all that political crap that’s happening in the world right now, aside, and just relax. This is what it is. A cool travel song!

i really like the song - but at usual with the mix (you can never hear the 'bass guitar)'

I noticed that in the last years they are mixing the songs in a garage sound and not as clean as they used to

Waiting for a tour :shifty:

Thanks @Junior_Spidey and @pacejunkie punk for clearing that up, was about to drive myself nuts looking for Devil’s Kind.  Can’t wait to hear them all.

Who's playing bass and drums, actually? I don't know, to be honest X0 Oh yes, no problem on that, new stuff is appreciated X0

My guess is Billie

I like it. It's catchy. What a nice surprise!

I'm not a huge fan of how the vocals sound but I had zero expectations, so I really can't complain about some side project if that's the direction he wants to take the sound...

Honestly, I'm just more interested in seeing where this goes in terms of potential live performances.

I haven't posted on here in a while, but I'm so hyped for this! I'm loving the song, super catchy. I only wish they would tell us officially what The Longshot is. The only thing we know for sure is that Billie is the lead singer. All in time, I guess. I just have no patience lol.

It's Love is For Losers:

Spoiler

No one mentioned the scream "get out" at 1:30 in this video? or do you hear something else than "get out"? Anyways it's absolutely exhilarating. Like so often, Billie writes pretty sad lyrics with a music that makes me jump to the ceiling, crying and laughing at the same time. I've been letting the song burst out in my ears all day and I'm just crazy about it.  Can't wait for the whole album.

As for the chorus, I see the similarity with Waiting but without having read you guys I wouldn't have, even though Warning is one of the songs I sing all the time without thinking of it. Both are quite different as a whole and LIFL doesn't remind me of Waiting either way than this particular aspect of the chorus.
