I'm a little  late on this, but "Goodbye to Romance" is the title of a really good Ozzy Osbourne song. What if its a cover? I think that'd be dope.

Pretty certain it is a cover of it, @Todd mentioned they played it live in 2011 and recorded it during the Trilogy sessions.

I would die to hear his vocals on that!

I love it!:runaround::dance:And surprisingly, the vocals don't bother me. I read through this thread before I listened to the song, and I was expecting the vocals to be an absolute nightmare. Glad that that is not the case.

Same here, I mean, it's noticeable for sure, but it doesn't take away from the song at all. I really, really like it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this song and can't wait to drive around with my windows down blaring this once it warms up. A great driving tune. Love how the chorus reminds me of Waiting.

It's funny because I’ve been bummed as of late that I’m still single and then I wake up this morning to this tune and I feel better about everything. Always there for me.

Almost home, so stoked to hear it:runaround:

how many songs exactly premiered? Just Love is for Losers?

I wish I could find songs helpful, too :P (In general, not relationships, Lol)

It's just that once I get the chance to learn all the lyrics and can belt this out it helps get all of those crummy emotions out of me :)

By the way, for what I think this song have no problems with the vocals. Yeah, that filter is there but the singing is pretty natural so I'm happy with that. I can't love it 'cause the verse is ripped from ''Too Much Too Soon'' and the chorus from ''Waiting''. I like the pre-chorus chord progression. Apart from that it's the ''common'' G-D-C song so nothing that great but, like I said, I'm always excited about new releases as long as there's Billie Joe on the microphone, talking about the Green Day world and related, Lol.

So, i just heard the song on YouTube. It sounded awesome(love the guitar parts)

I like it! Chorus is very catchy; can't stop singing!

Some parts of Love is For Losers are close to Social Distortion style, does anyone agree?

It's not a bad song, actually it's super catchy... but it doesn't sound fresh. It has zero inspiration, Billie on automatic mode.

My thoughts exactly. But it’s a side project and it’s what Billie wants to get out of his system right now, so I’m fine with that. It just doesn’t inspire me. It sounds like lots of other things and way too familiar. BUT, this is just one song. Since it was casually premiered on a local station with no fanfare, it may not even be a single. Other songs may sound different and more inspiring, to me at least.

I’ved noticed there is very little awareness of this on social media. Was that the intention?

Considering that The Longshot's social media page is private, it's no surprise that this isn't blowing up. People aren't seeing it.

Billie's post said "New tunes and more"  what is the more and have folk missed that comment or just too wrapped up in the new track?  A video?

We do but I have control of it and have no wish to use it to prevent people from talking about what the new song sounds like :P

i meant user controlled, so that we may filter what we do or dont wish to see/hear, based on our own preferences. like the ignore feature? fucking love that thing.

the vocals and production are dope.

Sure, but you would think this would still have spread like wildfire.

Thanks, Sounds like it fits. I’ll make the edit!

I don’t always love the vocal filters Billie uses but they don’t bother me here. He didn’t create anything especially new with this song but it’s a straight up good rock song and I’m really enjoying it 😊.

I was wondering the same thing. A video or live shows probably? Did the radio station mention when the full album will be released?

The radio station didn’t seem to know much of anything. They allegedly got a secret text message that told them the title of the song after they played it. That’s how little they knew.

I stopped listening after they played the song twice in a row, but he didn't seem to have that information, or wasn't sharing it. I am really hoping for live shows! When I found the longshot i instagram, there were less than 30 people following, and a small number of accounts being followed by him, and most of those were of various bars. It made me wonder if they were the venues he would be doing shows at. I'm super hopeful, because one of them is in my city, but there is a bar with the same name in SF, so I'm also afraid it was just a mix up.

I think the song is great musically but I do think it loses something with the vocals. I normally don't mind the filters and it isn't the filters that I don't like. It seems like the vocals don't fit. Almost like he should be singing at different parts. I"m not really sure how else to describe it.

However, as someone said before, I like the garagey sound of it musically.

To me it's not a case of the same thing being discussed. Like, as far as I'm concerned this is a new sound on his voice.....it didn't sound like this on either the Trilogy or Rev Rad.

Are people saying his voice/the vocal effect used has been like this since 2012??? Because if so we're not listening to the same band. The Trilogy's vocals are super clear. These vocals are as someone said like he's in a fish bowl :P. Hearing the full song I don't actually mind it much, I'd prefer it different but it's a stylistic choice that does work ok with the song. But I think the extreme voice effect is new and worth commenting on.

Agree with both of you.  I rarely have an issue with the vocals, but here it sounds like his voice is lost in the instruments, especially in the first verse.  It also feels like it ends a bit abruptly.   I have no issues with his vocals on the trilogy or the great majority of RevRad (the opening of Still Breathing being the exception).  This is different.  Overall, I do like it though and am looking forward to what comes next.

The song only seems like it ended abruptly because either the DJ hit the cue for, or they programmed it in their on-air system to cut to, the following liner as the song was fading out. Trust me - I'm a radio announcer myself,* and dead-air, even when/after a song fades out, is something most stations try to fight at all costs. So it's not that the song ended abruptly, it's just that a lot of the rips you're hearing have edited out the DJ's/on-air system's cut into the unfortunately-placed liner after it.

*at a rock station - thank god - so hopefully my higher-ups decide to put "Love Is For Losers" into rotation once it gets a wider release!
