While it looks like Devils Kind and Body Bag will feature, I reckon they might be reworked versions to fit with whatever sound he's going for with the record. Was there this much hype/teasers for Stop, Drop and Roll? Nah, if I remember correctly 'Stop drop and roll' just appeared out of nowhere to download. It was fun too because quite a few people were incredibly persistent that it wasn't Green Day, the singer just 'sounded a lot like Billie'

They definitely had fun teasing with FBHT as well though, before the 6 songs appeared on a mysterious website there was a weird clock there that people were trying to figure out. And then before the album came out there were teases and weird things on the FBHT Myspace page they made. But I don't think The Longshot has had that much hype really. It's just the Instagram page that the vast majority of GD fans/random music fans don't know about and a few teases on Billie's personal Instagram, not exactly a huge marketing campaign. I don't think it's a "lot of hype" so much as them just enjoying teasing us.

I'm not usually one to nitpick GD's production but that particular singing through a megaphone or whatever it's supposed to sound like fake sounding voice effect thing they've done on occasion (I think they first used it on a couple of Warning songs) has always been something I've disliked so I have to hope it won't be a whole album of it. There's just no need for it, believe in your voice Billie! I notice the vocal filter but it really doesn't bother me. I wouldn't mind if there was no filter, but as I like the result that way, I assume that Billie too, so perhaps it's not because he doesn't believe in his voice (I hope it's not that anyways)
1039Revolutions Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Most rock singers use their voice as an instrument, and need to choose the right tones, just like they do with the guitars, keys, and percussion! The only time filters are rarely used is in stuff like opera, where it's more so centered around the vocal range and vibrato. I guess they have increased it a bit over the years, but they've also become more diverse, and likely need to add different effects on vocals to suit the song!

I've never seen so much critique about vocal filters anywhere else, than from Green Day fans, and it's very odd because EVERY band uses them! Billie's (and the rest of the bands) ear for their instrumentation tones is so spot on perfect for the types of songs they write.. I just don't understand why people critique the most petty things. Sometimes I really hope the guys don't read these boards lol. Billie uses filters that colour his voice hugely and he does it consistently. It rarely brings anything to his vocals. Of course he's going to modify his voice slightly during production, but his vocals aren't sounding natural at the minute, which is annoying when he's got such a good voice

I wouldn't mind the filters if they were making his vocals better (eg Idiot) but I can't say they're an improvement. He just sounds unnatural.
Sanity Loan Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 So, what are we trying to solve with this “vocal filters” discussion? It’s going in circles and has been since 2012. Can we move on?

Billie Joes Eyelids Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 I wonder why this album is called Love is For Losers when it sounds like it’s going to be pretty personal and by all accounts his marriage is in a very happy place.

Clockwise Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Some more speculation: The Longshot account doesn’t follow Tre or Mike, but DOES follow Jesse Malin and Jeff Matika. It’s possible Billie is writing/recording this all himself but is recruiting them for the live band. Like the line-up for Tribeca 2016 minus Tre. The account also follows Chris Dugan so maybe he’s playing drums.

He's not going to be a literal one man band so I guess if Mike or Tre aren't involved (and I assume they're not hence why this isn't called Green Day) some peripheral Green Day musicians are likely to be.
