Could this be a Green Day album?

Like Green Day Present:  Love is for Losers by The Longshot!

Kind of like MCR did with The KillJoys?

The album could explain why the Coverups became The Longshot, changing from a band to a Solo Project.

and then after this album Billie Joe could release a Billie Joe solo album.

I love side project bands, but I want Album 13 so bad.

Also, who's this random Instagram user and how'd he get the new clip?

Pretty sure it's Kurt 'Fuzzy' Schroeder. Friend of the band. :toocool:

Well, as much as I like some of the previews, I kinda don’t want this to be a Green Day album to be honest. The trilogy just isn’t quite my jam and though I absolutely adore FBHT, I still think it was a side-project with good reason. That being said, if for some extremely weird reason it were, I‘d be ok with it.

Where did that latest preview originate? It’s not on Longshot or Billie’s instagram.

In Billie Joe's latest post he tagged a friend saying "check out ______!" and it came from there :)

It's here...

Its a bj solo album

I guess he’s just inviting us in the whole of writing and recording process. Taking our opinions and implementing them. Because, he re-posted one clip, with increased drum speed.

I guess if this is BJ's own thing, I'm getting worried about his choices about what it's in and out of Green Day

It probably just means it’s not what he wants the next album to sound like.

I just don’t understand this obsession with being “accepted.” Ok, so they set up a private Instagram, all the clips and photos are being leaked out everywhere - meaning everyone has access to it. I see more discussion about being accepted by this Instagram account than discussion about the music and the sound, there’s something wrong with that. I’m stoked about this project and couldnt care less if I never get accepted by this account. Let’s speculate about the music, these are exciting times.

Yeah, all the clips and photos are being leaked out here and on the Facebook Green Day Inc page. That doesn't stop me from wanting to be one of the lucky fans who get Billie answer to their own comments  that being said, the music seems wonderful, I'm totally obsessed with the Chasing a Ghost preivew

I don't care about it or feel like I'm missing out on anything either since everything's out there . Got to let people enjoy it along with the music though (especially when we hardly have any music to go on yet!), it's part of the fun of it.

I say to myself this kind of things when I have to deal with not being accepted. I really enjoy the visual and audio previews, as well as the comment screenshots on GD Inc Facebook. I even printed them at work

I mean, I don't think anyone really cares about that song that much tbh. Dreamcatcher would be a song I'd like to see a studio version of a lot more

I just listened to 2 GD songs I had never heard before, thanks!

I'm not totally sure if what we are hearing in these previews are the final mixes for the songs. It seems like all of them have unbalanced sounds/rough mixes. But of course this could also be a product of the shitty headphones I'm listening with

I have shitty headphones as well, but am already addicted to these previews, and now I'm dreaming I'll see them live one day

Can I go out on a limb and say anyone who was a fan of the trilogy sound will probably like this? It sounds like trilogy style song writing with less glossy production. Which I am very satisfied with.

I love the trilogy and am totally crazy with these previews indeed

Everything we hear right now says a lot about the next album - more than I think people realize. Everything that's released as The Longshot is indicative of how the next album likely won't sound. Billie/Green Day have never liked to repeat themselves and it's safe to assume that the next Green Day album won't be the exception. What came after Foxboro Hot Tubs and what did it sound like in comparison? It was likely musical stress relief to satisfy an artistic "craving" that wasn't being satisfied within the Green Day album's process.  If you don't like the garage rock, low-fi sounding Longshot music, the next Green Day album will probably go in the opposite direction! If you love it, perfect - it'll be out soon!

I agree. Something tells me he has a pretty good idea of what he wants the next GD album to sound like and this ain’t it. But since he has a cache of some rocking tunes, might as well do them as a side project. I love the idea — it not only keeps us busy but prevents these great songs from being wasted.

And can I just say I can’t get that little snippet of Chasing a Ghost out of my head?  Damn you Armstrong you’ve done it again!!

Okay so here's my theory...

I feel like with trilogy and revrad only doing somewhat "okay" in the mainstream and the new switch with management, that Green Day want the next album to be huge again. They're not done, they want another Dookie and another American Idiot. This means taking time to work out a battle plan and mentally prepare for a huge tour.

Green Day can't just throw out an album and not tour. They're a big band, they're going to be on the road for at least a year...

HOWEVER that's not to say that during their break that Billie hasn't been sitting around itching to knock out some little rock n roll garage tunes in his spare time. So by putting out a solo album under the longshot, he doesn't need to be associated with the Green Day brand, he can have fun with these songs and maybe do a few club shows if he wants.

Or I could be wrong, I dunno. Looking forward to hearing this in full though.

Probably. But I think that Billie isn't in that phase yet wondering what he wants for the next Green Day record. He just wants to release a handful of songs before he forgets about them.

I like the low-fi sound that this is getting :) I remember BJ sayin that he loves this approach, so maybe he wants to exploit it

I hate when people make it seem like Green Day want or need to recapture their old highs or that its something that can really be planned and done on purpose. The truth is rock isn't that commercially big anymore and I would bet Green Day knows that its very unlikely that will happen again. And I would like to think their okay with that, they hit heights most band wouldn't dream of and they did it TWICE. To me even if they never released another album again they'd still be one of the most amazing bands ever because of everything they've already done I just hope they make music they enjoy without worrying if its big or not. After all its not like they need the money or the fame anymore cause they already have it.

As for The Longshot I've been really enjoying what I've been hearing and just want a release date confirmed cause I was kinda crushed with the whole Easter/the 6th thing everyone made seem like a sure thing (not that its our fault). I just love them. Also cant wait to find out where these songs came from cause I find it weird to include Body Bag and Devils Kind in the midst of a bunch of new songs

they make the records they wanna make, period. its why C&V got scrapped, its why we got MM2020 & SD&R. im just glad he never really stops writing and we end up w/ all this extra badassery. granted, i personally had hoped for PHGP to do something this go 'round in between GD albums, but i'll take whatever he/they wanna drop, however they wanna drop it. and if i can end up w/ a t-shirt and an lp on top of that, even better.

I've not read the last 9 pages so sorry if I'm repeating what anyone else has said but that latest preview sounds Trilogy as hell to me, specifically 8th Avenue Serenade, the vocal melody is incredibly similar to my ears. Reminds me a lot of another Trilogy song too but I can't place it.

I like the new   ̶G̶r̶e̶e̶n̶ ̶D̶a̶y̶ The Longshot clip. The vocal filters are bad though, hoping it's not the finished product. I'm not usually one to nitpick GD's production but that particular singing through a megaphone or whatever it's supposed to sound like fake sounding voice effect thing they've done on occasion (I think they first used it on a couple of Warning songs) has always been something I've disliked so I have to hope it won't be a whole album of it. There's just no need for it, believe in your voice Billie!

I think there's too much hype for this to be just a bunch of leftover tracks. While it looks like Devils Kind and Body Bag will feature, I reckon they might be reworked versions to fit with whatever sound he's going for with the record.

Was there this much hype/teasers for Stop, Drop and Roll?
