Thatsername Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 So, pretty damn sure it’s Billie himself posting on that account.
Hermione Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 "Shut up and have fun" lmao. He's really given himself away with that coffin quote
pouty bitch Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 That "rainy day sadness" reminds me of the sunny rainy day thing in the OW movie.
pouty bitch Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Finally listened to the clip with the vocals and I fell in love with it immediately. So glad that Billie's singing, I wouldn't want it any other way. I love the fact that it says moron because that's one of my favourite words. And I never had a problem with the trilogy vocals, that was probably my fave part of the trilogy tbh.
deleteduser7593 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I think the album will be a mix of Nimrod, Dookie and American Idiot, Lol PS: @silviagreen Sei bella Sì :-) Yeah, the filter thing is a mystery we've already solved... Billie Joe always wanted his voice to sound natural on records. On American Idiot (and 21st Century Breakdown) he only used some radio filters for some parts of some songs. But he was singing naturally. The weird thing started with the trilogy: Weird singing. Weird filters. Pre-2004 stuff is 90% natural stuff with just reverb and pitch correction. Post-2004 and Pre-2012 stuff is a less natural vocal track + some radio effects here and there. Post-2012 stuff is totally messed up. Over-corrected and over-filtered. Revolution Radio was pretty in equilibrium, luckly.

pacejunkie punk Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Why are people so critical over the vocals? To me it just sounds like Billie’s voice and even though it’s changed over the years I love it. I love the clip because as always I love his lyrics. His “rainy day sadness” sounds like reflections on aging and feeling out of sync with the world. I can relate. I can’t wait to hear the lyrics from the whole album. Writing has always been therapy for him and a new album is like a window into his soul. 💚 Now I wonder why he didn’t want any of this to be Green Day? Does that mean the next Green Day album will have a different concept or sound that doesn’t match this?
pacejunkie punk Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 And how is he gonna release this? I hope it’s on Spotify.
Yosuke Hanamura Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 New preview with lyrics. Just realized somebody already posted it. Oops.
MillenniumFan Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Honestly, I don't get some people here. Setting the vocal filters aside, this sounds much more like Back In The USA than the trilogy. If anything it's kind of a 3 way cross-combination of RevRad, Back In The USA and FBHT. And honestly, I pretty much downright hate most of the trilogy to a certain extent. So, especially if you consider it's a side-project, I'm actually quite liking the sound of this! Though I will agree that the production sounds slightly ''off'' (over compressed). But, I can't judge until I here the final version. Unfortunately, everything since RevRad has been highly compressed, but not in a good way (it kind of worked for American Idiot). Excited nonetheless!

Excited nonetheless! Yeah the clips sound good, but theres still things Billie insists on doing which don't sound that great, thats all my criticisms have ever been. Believe it or not I actually really like this band which is why I'm so critical of things like the production and vocal filters because they make good songs sound bad, which is frustrating

Excited nonetheless! The trilogy doesn't sound very different to Rev Rad or Back In The USA though . They all share a 2010s Green Day sound. And it's not far from FBHT either with the rock n roll/partying songs. Just going by that clip The Longshot just sounds like more 2010s Green Day to me. Remains to be seen if there's something that sets it apart to sound like a separate new band I guess. It was so much more clear cut with FBHT and the Network with full on new characters and costumes and recognisable 60s rock and roll/80s new wave sounds, not sure what the difference from GD is with this yet. The vocals are a bit filtered (or whatever the technical term is) for my taste but it's not that extreme.
HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I just realized that, if Bill is confirmed at the bass and Jason at the guitar, the closest project, at least in terms of band members, is Pinhead Gunpowder .
Montclare Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 The trilogy's vocals are my favorite Billie vocals. I've had no issues with him using any vocal filters over the years (I even like the filter on Nightlife), except for on Still Breathing. But I do have to say, and I hate saying this, I'm hoping this isn't the final version, because they do sound compressed, especially at the beginning of the clip. But I'm holding judgement until we get the end result.

And yes, everything on Instagram is mono and compressed to render decently on shitty phone speakers.

It's funny how although this is technically true and it's 3/4 of Pinhead Gunpowder it still isn't even close to it without Aaron , he's essential for the name to be mentioned. If this does just sound like Green Day I wonder if they've literally just made this separate project to do it because Billie feels like doing something now (and Mike or whatever) but Tre isn't available so they can't call it GD without him? I really want to know what's going to make The Longshot different/unique now.
pacejunkie punk Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I wonder if the reason it’s not Green Day is because these are a mix of Billie’s songs from past solo projects and things he wrote and arranged himself but didn’t know what to do with. Maybe he doesn’t consider it Green Day unless it’s him, Mike and Tre working out the songs together and all playing on it. Simply put, no Mike/Tre = no Green Day.
inthehallwaynow Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I honestly don't hear the difference in BJ's voice people are talking about. I really like what i've listened to and i'm pretty excited for anything.
deleteduser7593 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Green Day have always been mono. They've gone stereo with RevRad. Anyways, I don't think they're Pinhead Gunpowder even if I'd love a new LP from the guys :-)

I really want to know what's going to make The Longshot different/unique now. 1 Yeah it was just a "technical" consideration, Pinhead - Aaron is not a possible equation IMHO, this is just things naturally going on. They are all friends, part of the same scene/musical environment, with a similar music taste, sometimes jamming together. One day, while jamming and covering bastards of young in Billie's garage (AKA Otis), they realize that it would be fun to record something together and, since it's a quite furnished garage, they just start doing it. Tre was rightfully enjoying some family time, and maybe wants to keep doing it for a while, so he's not part of it. Billie had some raw material so they started with it. They were actually playing beer pong and, since Billie was missing all the cups, here it comes the Longshot. In the meanwhile, they started playing some clubs and trolling everyone calling themselves the Coverups. Ok I'm done .
deleteduser7593 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Drums have too much filters on the last clip!
Christian's Inferno! Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Am I the only one whose never really had a problem with Billie's vocals? Well... except for the pre-Kerplunk days

Well... except for the pre-Kerplunk days I love his voice. His natural voice. Compare ''Ordinary World'' from RevRad and the recording feat. Miranda Lambert. The 1st has its weird sides, the 2nd is great. I wish I could make a change for that song...

Listen to any recent release uploaded on Instagram and you will notice the same, unless there's been an ad hoc mastering process (which I am quite sure is not our case).
