To me, The Longshot is just a name for leftovers and sone good songs 100% Green Day, i just don't like that 2012-ish weird voice Billie Joe makes... Thank God ''Back in the USA'' has a natural singing, imaggine it with a trilogy-esque voice....
vicious_kid Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 To me all the previews sounds like a mix between the sound of the trilogy and the kind of sound of "Xmas Time of The Year". And that's good to me. 2 days left !!!

Josh100_3 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 This sounds like the trilogy...please don't attack me

Thank God ''Back in the USA'' has a natural singing, imaggine it with a trilogy-esque voice.... Love love love that clip with Billie singing at last! I honestly don't get the problem with his voice in that clip, it's the sweetest sound I've heard in weeks. (And I always love his voice, whether it's Back In The USA or trilogy, I don't make that much of a distinction between both... For me the distinction would be between his album voice and live voice.) It's my favorite Longshot clip so far, not only because it's the longest but while I can't really appreciate a song within a 15 seconds instrumental preview, even 15 seconds of Billie singing (some stuff we've never heard!) is more than enough to make me straightaway overjoyed Thanks to everyone who've been posting links to the Facebook comments and new Instagram posts. I'm very happy to see all the responses Billie does on the private account. I'm not at my ease with social media but the way he uses them has conquered me, and I can see he's at his ease which is what counts for me. Finally I like the emulation in craziness this thread has turned into. I can't imagine my level of excitement when the thing comes out!!

Goofygoldfish Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I thought those numbers were proved to be on the original photo and not added by Billie or whoever!
deleteduser7593 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 1 minute ago, vicious_kid said: maybe It improves the song Here's my theory about the voice thing: It was 2010, 2011 when Billie Joe felt the urge of going a little bit back after ''the serious era'' including American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. This, of course, is reflected in the whole trilogy, musically and not. I guess he tried to sound like when he was younger, trying to ''mock'' a sort of ''I don't care'' singing style, mixed to a forced voice forcing ''e'' and ''i'' vocals to make them sound more crispy and ''young'', empowering this with vocal filters too, when he obviously noticed that his voice got ''older'' (better, why not) and more low range in the sound or... darker, in that sense. If you notice, he did something similiar in Foxboro Hottubs but that was a sort of ''middle of the road'', a Johnny Rotten f**k you-esque vocal mocking but not that over-acted, exagerated as you hear in UNO, DOS or TRE'. I don't think he noticed it. I'm honest, I can't hear 90% of the trilogy songs because of that weird vocals... It sounds weird 'cause it's fake. No hate here, of course. Revolution Radio, despite filters and pitch correction, has marvelous vocal performances. And, like I said before, it's 'cause Billie Joe has the perfect voice for the music he plays. He sounds good even when not perfectly in tune. He always did. In records like Nimrod and Insomniac, even live, you can hear a lot of vocal ''variations'', those kind of weird stuff that made his voice unique, in a sense. But it was sincere, in time, honest, on point. Doing it in 2012 when you're 40 doesn't sound good, and that's why most of us, I guess, didn't like THAT voice. Billie Joe voice may not be perfect but... it's MEANINGFUL. And this is the best compliment I have for a singer. So, what I wanna say it's that, TO ME, he felt ''old'', not cool anymore, and forced himself. And so are those records. Rehab wasn't only about alcohol, stated this.
aydge89 Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I predict we'll get the first single tomorrow (Friday) - full version of Chasing a Ghost. Green Day's always had a very Friday feel to them and I'm sure The Longshot will too.

I mean honestly the trilogy is the closest thing to other fun rock and roll/garagey type side projects they've done in the past (FBHT) so if it sounds similar to it I won't be too surprised. And the trilogy isn't THAT different to everything else they've done lol, Rev Rad is quite similar to it in a lot of places as well.

Hermione Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I haven't actually heard the clip yet but I never found anything particularly weird about Billie's trilogy voice, it was just produced to sound clearer than usual. The only thing I don't like is when they put way too much filter on his voice so you can barely hear what it really sounds like (it's going that way a bit on Back in the USA...) so I just hope it's not like that.
uptightallthetime Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 That latest clip has a Back in the USA feel and in another clip I was reminded of the 80's / Adam and the Ants. Sounding good to me. We are truly blessed with all these side bands and I've realised it's rather like having children. You wonder whether you will have enough love to go around and then ... boom, another one comes along, it's love at first sight and you love them all equally. And, funnily enough, all this waiting is beginning to feel like a 9 month pregnancy.
greenalert997x Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I don't like it. There he goes again, using awful vocal filter or whatever it is, but it doesn't sound natural. The song resambles a theme song from a boring serial, really suits it.

alienlifeform Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Fantastic new preview Lyrics: "... I'm feeling like a moron bitter at withdrawn, standing in the shadows where all the good times gone I got the tears oh baby crying in my soul, hang from a chandelier from a long long time ago chasing a ghost..."
