Mato Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Putting aside the silly idea of Jesse joining Green Day (one of a thousand silly ideas people are ready to have on this forum), I have to step in for defense of Jesse. Trying to neglect the subjetive part of me, because he's one one my absolute favorite artist next to Ryan Adams and Bob Mould, I'm not quite sure most of you guys gave a proper listen to his albums. Especially first two. I kind of look at him as a romantic poet, who has his roots in punk (D Generation) and a really cool individual. He's definitely not a conventional singer, especially for slower ballads, considering his rather nasal and moaning, sometimes of key voice (Billie Joe once nicely put it as non singer singers for Paul Westerberg), but the whole image, attitude and mentality about it was really appealing to me since the first time I heard The Fine Art Of Self Destruction (his first record). Those songs just scream sadness, but in a beautiful way. The number of influences you can hear in his music (Springsteen, Stones, The Smiths etc.).. I strongly suggest you to give a listen to those records and try to understand his story, lyrics and the atmoshpere around it.
Montclare Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I'd love a cover of Whole Wide World. I've watched that one over 20 times.

It strikes me as a song Billie really identifies with you can tell he likes it a lot. Same spirit as “I walked for miles til I found you”

letsdanceon Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 This is the second time I have seen a video of Billie covering Paul Collins Beat “Walking Out on Love,” and the second time I have seen Paul fangirl about it on Facebook after finding out 😂 omg Billie, just take PC out on the road already!!! I would love to see the so-called “King of Powerpop” open for a Green Day tour 😍

Thats how I see Jesse too. He's a punk but not and so much more. I'm not always a fan of his vocal delivery, but I love his work as a whole. Seen him many times.
