That Dude Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Yeah, I'd like that. But....it has to do with the Trilogy so it will never see the light of day. Ever. lol I see people saying they don't want to hear leftovers, but even B-sides by Green Day are amazing. I want to hear all their stuff, even songs they think suck. Because they probably don't.

And weren’t we promised more trilogy remixes after Fell For You?

And weren’t we promised more trilogy remixes after Fell For You? It's been a weird time for the band. They said we were getting Somewhere Now / Forever Now as single, but then we got "Back in the USA". They said we'd get more remixes and....we didn't. It seems like they are so excited to work on new music that they don't really know what is going to come out next. While I believe the band has a lot of control these days of what comes out, there is the dreaded business side of things. Someone (either a "suit" or maybe even a decent, human friend of the band - who knows?) could have told them "hey, maybe instead of releasing a 4th and 5th single that probably won't do much on the charts, throw out "Back in the USA". It'll be something new for fans and might make an impact. If it doesn't, whatever. it's a greatest hits" So they probably remixed a TON of songs and in the end decided that "Fell for You" was enough of a treat for hardcore fans between projects. Or maybe "Ordinary World" won over the remixes - again, who knows? But yes, I've obsessively cataloged 1138 songs by the band (covers they've done, unreleased, b-sides, etc.) and I know I'm missing some because I haven't had the time to be obsessed in the last year or so. It's probably up to at least 1200 by now with covers they did on Rev Rad tour, The Coverups, Dirty Pirates, etc., etc. And even down to the garbled, unintelligible "Unknown Song #2" which sounds like it was recorded on a cassette tape on a moving train that's exploding - it's STILL a good listen! Green Day can literally do no wrong, at least when it comes to making songs. And that's a really big part of their career! Let's do a breakdown of the Heroes and Cons of Green Day: Cons: Trilogy could have been promoted better, even without a lead singer. Music videos have been on a decline since 2009 when we started getting lazy live performance videos like East Jesus Nowhere and Cigarettes and Valentines. Then even MORE of that crap with Let Yourself Go, Nuclear Family, Stay the Night, Trouble Maker. And then they added sparkling vampires to the mix and honestly, if that's not the lowest point of their career, I don't know what is! There is hope though, as a lot of the 21st Century Breakdown ones were good, as was Still Breathing and BANG BANG. I guess I just hate live performance videos, but honestly Rev Rad would have been fine without that vomit inducing spinning fish-eye view. BLECK! HEROES: They can't write or perform a bad song. Green Day live - 13 years and a million shows later, STILL the greatest concert experience I've ever had. I've watched footage from the late 80's stuff to present and they just keep improving it, static set lists or no. Anyway. I'm still hoping for a massive b-sides dump from them at some point, but not sure it will ever happen. They tend to reuse songs, so it could be something that they keep hidden away until - I hate to even talk about it - the guys aren't alive anymore. Could be a way to make them relevant again in the 2085 and onward. I'll be 100 and still an immature guy listening to Rock N Roll!
andy-hehehe Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 There's way too much grief about what unreleased stuff is from when :') Have to say I much prefer the pre-dookie unreleased ones knocking about on youtube anyway
Insomniac1984 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Well, today is Dookie's 24th anniversary, I hope next year the band DO SOMETHING to commemorate that with a Special Edition with unreleased stuff. Talking about the Trilogy Remixes, I expected them in a greatest hits album, and BOOM!! GFB was released and... nothing happened, unfortunately. I loved how Fell for you was given a better mix. The trilogy mix produce was really flat. I expect something for American Idiot 15th anniversary, too. No matter what the band or people involved in C&V recording sessions have said, I want to listen to the songs from that era. An American Idiot Anniversary released would be the perfect time to happen.

Does anyone remember where they said they had a pirate radio that broadcasts their jams around the time AI was being recorded? I would like to hear those.
