I sort of met Billie at the Longshot in Baltimore and reacted so stupidly it's untrue. He got off the tour bus at the front of the line and I was at the front but someone ended up running in in front of me whose photo I took with Billie and ended up muttering something about having passed out on the amp the previous night in Washington. Billie replied "Oh..." and Bill Schneider dragged him off! 

Will have to wait to tell him how talented he is!

If I ever met Billie I would love to tell him how he's one of the few musicians I respect for how he never let's anyone tell him what to do with his music or how to handle Green Day. And how he does things he feels is right for the band with little regard to what people or the fans will say. But, I'm sure I would just stand there, mouth a gape, meekly say "hello i love your music thank you" and start to shake as a struggle to work up the courage to ask for a hug. 

Anytime I've met a musician, I always feel like I'm bothering them. They're so busy and they're wanted by everyone. I feel bad asking for a photo or something.

I don’t know what I’d do. Depends on the situation, but I feel like usually it’s not possible to have a conversation beyond the classic “omg I love your music!!” and I know Billie heard that a million times so I might as well leave him alone.

Yeah of course. I probably would take up the opportunity if I met him in some chill setting (and then I’d probably feel like I’m being annoying and see myself out quickly), but fighting for someone’s attention with 10 other fans after a show just isn’t my thing. Everyone wants to talk to them and there’s just something about it that doesn’t feel genuine??? I don’t know, maybe I’ve just been unlucky and it’s not inherently awkward.

I agree. It kinda feels like people fighting over stuff in stores on Black Friday LOL. In situations like that I think people just want to "meet" or get a pic with the celeb just for bragging rights, not for any personal connection.

The only reason I knew the crowd was chanting “Yorkshire“ was because a friend of mine had told me another band she’d seen thought the crowd were chanting “You’re shit” at them Apparently they shout it all the time at gigs in Yorkshire. I think she said the other band was the Kaiser Chiefs

Well, Billie's brain takes even basic words to a weird place. Some people at my Longshot show requested Wild One and he said "What? Male bonding?" He did eventually figure it out and said "Oh! Wild One. I forget that one." 

Back on the topic of meeting Billie, though, I'm not sure what I'd do or say. I feel like I would deeply crave a more personal connection and that a quick 5 second hi/bye picture situation at a concert or something wouldn't really feel great. That's probably the only interaction with him I'd realistically have a chance at and that makes me sad. If I miraculously happened upon him while he was just out and about it would be a perfect opportunity for something more like a conversation, which is what I would really love. I would absolutely feel like I was being annoying or bothersome. I agree with that completely. He is someone who is desired, whether it be for a genuine, respectful interaction or just for bragging rights. I wouldn't even know how to initiate anything with him and probably wouldn't even have the courage in the first place.
