Exactly, language evolves everywhere.

CherryBombs&Gasoline Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Do you guys seriously believe they would record a cover of a song and call it a "new song"? I don't know, that would be a stupid move that would upset a lot of fans (including me ). They are not stupid, right? So let's hope for the best.
Chin for a Day Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I was thinking alot about this cover vs original song thing. I will admit I was a bit upset when it first came up that it may be a cover, now I'm not so sure. First, before this, was anyone really familiar with the Chuck Berry song? I know I wasn't, I had to look it up on Youtube. GD has done some incredible covers in their career, in some cases, I think better than the originals. So what is the difference between a (hopefully) kick ass cover of a song that I'm not familiar with and an original song? The best I could come up is the by-line. The only issue is that they did announce it as a new song, and if it is a cover, it is false advertising.
Australian1diot Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I don't think you guys should worry about whether it's a cover or not, they said it's a new song so I believe them. Besides, look at some of their past possible cover songs, Holiday (Madonna I think), Know Your Enemy (Rage against the Machine). Those songs weren't covers, so why should this one be?

I live for his lyrics so any new song is exciting for that reason to me and a cover less so for the same reason. 1 minute ago, Australian1diot said: I don't think you guys should worry about whether it's a cover or not, they said it's a new song so I believe them. Also Bang Bang, She, and I’m sure many more.
Christian's Inferno! Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I don't think it's a cover... Although the fact that OW was labelled as a "new song" too worries me

I still have faith in this one There’s nothing that officially confirms the song that was played at that private show and the song on this album are the same thing. 46 minutes ago, CherryBombs&Gasoline said: Do you guys seriously believe they would record a cover of a song and call it a "new song"? They called Ordinary World with Miranda Lambert a “new song” so calling a cover a new song as well honestly wouldn’t surprise me.

Some random person who wrote the advert for the album did, I doubt they personally inspected how it was phrased. There's a lot of evidence that it might be a cover, or it might be a new song, is either thing that bad?

I do like when gd covers songs though but not when ive already been hyped for a new material.

It's business. Expect a lot? Expect a lot ...? Our all time favourite band expect a great live DVD from one of their awesome shows in South America? Expecting a lot? For one of the biggest rock acts today you can expect far better promotion than GD has done.

Well, "they" being whoever is doing the Facebook promo — I know it's likely nothing in advertisements is written directly by the band itself. Though the announcement post that said "2 new songs" was literally signed with their names. Quote God’s Favorite Band Shout out to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert 20 biggest hits 2 new songs 1 new music vid And a partridge in a pear tree From God’s Favorite Band to the world’s best fans, Christmas comes early. November 17 worldwide #Blessed - Billie, Mike and Tré And yeah, I'd be disappointed if it turned out that "2 new songs" turned out to be no new songs. Though a cover may still be enjoyable to listen to, it's not the same as listening to a song being performed by the person who wrote it. Cover songs are definitely enjoyable in their own way but that's not what was advertised.
Maddie86 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 so what happens if sales on this are terrible? how do you guys think that will affect the band's next move? If sales bomb I think they won't risk putting out another b-sides collection

If they wanted it to sell well, they would've promoted it

Sanity Loan Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Anyone else holding out hope that something like the "Fell For You" remix is included on this? Billie did mention that more were to come.

The person in the photo works for a record store/entertainment shop. In his case, all the CD's that get released on a Friday come in stock about a week early. He has it only because he works there. He can't buy it, take it out or do anything until Friday when it's released else he would be fired. Reveal hidden contents Or so he claims. hahah i guess I'm famous now!!! i work at HMV and we got the stock early but i can't buy it until friday, i could have opened up the cd and played it in the back at work but i'm being good haha

UNICORN VOMIT Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I think its a new GD rap song overdubbing (??) Chuck Berry's original song - Im personally looking forward to it.
