Do you guys seriously believe they would record a cover of a song and call it a "new song"? I don't know, that would be a stupid move that would upset a lot of fans (including me ). They are not stupid, right? So let's hope for the best.

I was thinking alot about this cover vs original song thing. I will admit I was a bit upset when it first came up that it may be a cover, now I'm not so sure. 

First, before this, was anyone really familiar with the Chuck Berry song? I know I wasn't, I had to look it up on Youtube. GD has done some incredible covers in their career, in some cases, I think better than the originals. So what is the difference between a (hopefully) kick ass cover of a song that I'm not familiar with and an original song? The best I could come up is the by-line. 

The only issue is that they did announce it as a new song, and if it is a cover, it is false advertising.

I don't think you guys should worry about whether it's a cover or not, they said it's a new song so I believe them.

Besides, look at some of their past possible cover songs, Holiday (Madonna I think), Know Your Enemy (Rage against the Machine). Those songs weren't covers, so why should this one be?

The difference is it’s not Billie’s own words. I live for his lyrics so any new song is exciting for that reason to me and a cover less so for the same reason.

There’s nothing that officially confirms the song that was played at that private show and the song on this album are the same thing.

They called Ordinary World with Miranda Lambert a “new song” so calling a cover a new song as well honestly wouldn’t surprise me.

Also "they" didn't really say it's a new song. Some random person who wrote the advert for the album did, I doubt they personally inspected how it was phrased. There's a lot of evidence that it might be a cover, or it might be a new song, is either thing that bad?

Its a huge difference! Im here for the green day sound, not gd imitating chuck berry.

I do like when gd covers songs though but not when ive already been hyped for a new material.

Well, "they" being whoever is doing the Facebook promo — I know it's likely nothing in advertisements is written directly by the band itself.

Though the announcement post that said "2 new songs" was literally signed with their names.

And yeah, I'd be disappointed if it turned out that "2 new songs" turned out to be no new songs. Though a cover may still be enjoyable to listen to, it's not the same as listening to a song being performed by the person who wrote it. Cover songs are definitely enjoyable in their own way but that's not what was advertised.

I don't really think the sales matter. It's not a proper studio album, just a compilation album. If they wanted it to sell well, they would've promoted it

The person in the photo works for a record store/entertainment shop. In his case, all the CD's that get released on a Friday come in stock about a week early. He has it only because he works there. He can't buy it, take it out or do anything until Friday when it's released else he would be fired.
