The Bellie Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 I personally find it pretty cool to make a record with their greatest hits covering all their carrier until now (greatest in a general way). I have already all their CD's but I couldn't have resisted buying this one in the whole bundle. The price isn't that much of a big deal, nothing pleases me as much as Green Day related and I don't feel the need to buy much stuff aside from Green Day related stuff and guitar playing. Each of us decides to buy it or not, we'll all get to hear the new song that's for sure. I hope this release will allow new fans to get into Green Day. And all along, I do hope we still have a chance for a live album of this amazing tour.
Schlappy Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Sometimes green day go too serious, example the mellow drama of the behind the scenes in BIAB (excluding Tre of course)... but THIS is the kind of silly shit i expect and love from the band.
Christian's Inferno! Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 So when do people think the new song (or songs if you count the new version of OW) are gonna leak?

Hermione Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 I just remembered that this photo exists and felt it was relevant to this topic I also hope it doesn't leak but I guess it probably will, no way to know exactly when but at least a few days before is likely
herewegoagain Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 If/when it leaks it will be the hardest battle of my life #realfan Just to add my two cents, I don't see the harm in releasing something low-effort like this to keep the momentum up while they're (presumably) working on new music. Keeps the casuals interested, we get a new song (easily available on the Spotify etc for free if you want), video, hilarious merch and hopefully some entertaining promo and maybe even live dates. Doesn't have to mean a full stop to the Rev Rad era and it's better than complete silence.

This may sound dumb, but how can a song leak before its official release? I read before that Bang Bang had had also leaked before RevRad's release, but I suppose this happens beyond the band's control? 2 minutes ago, herewegoagain said: If/when it leaks it will be the hardest battle of my life #realfan I hadn't thought of that... especially if people here would be already discussing it

Like a leaked script or piece of film, some underling or assistant from WB or an agents office gets their hands on it and uploads it to the internet to feel special.
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 I wonder if the video will be for OW or Back In The USA. 14 hours ago, Schlappy said: Sometimes green day go too serious, example the mellow drama of the behind the scenes in BIAB (excluding Tre of course)... but THIS is the kind of silly shit i expect and love from the band. They are so dramatic in BIAB I wouldn't want them to be this serious all the time though.

Penguin Puffball Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Too lazy to read the whole thread so this was probably mentioned somewhere and I just don't know it, but: I read somewhere (I think on facebook or something) that there were two new songs on this album. Is that true, or is it just the one new song? I forget what page I saw it on that said there were two.

Ordinary World re-recorded with Miranda Lambert is listed as a new song as is a track called Back in the USA.

Ah, I was wondering if the Miranda Lambert addition was being considered a "new" song. Thanks.

Stuff like this makes you wonder - does he speak the truth when he says they're working on a music video? Maybe. Does he speak the truth when he talks about drinking pee? I hope not.

I think half the time he just speaks prematurely anout things they are talking about doing that later don’t pan out. It would be a weird thing to make up. Or it actually is happening. 😉

He most probably doesn't lie on purpose but talks about stuff he's currently preoccupied even though it isn't meant to come out any time soon or things they're only considering.

I do believe that they'll make the video, but god knows when it will actually happen.

That's how I like my Green Day. This is super fun.

pouty bitch Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Tbh, I think their serious phase is the reason it took so long for me to become a GD fan. I much prefer their silly, laid-back side.

I was showing my daughter the video for BOBD and she was saying how emo and angsty she thought it was. Even though I know it dates to a time period when a lot of alternative music was angsty, I never thought of Green Day that way. For some reason while grunge and emo all seemed so dark and depressing and “I’m alone I hate my life”, Green Day’s vibe seemed to be “I’m alone but that’s cool” There was always some underlying sense to me that it was a positive thing. I’ve listened to a lot of angsty music in my day but Green Day was the first band that seemed to say to me, yeah we’re messed up but who cares, let’s have fun and celebrate. That’s what drew me to GD. That said, the themes of AI and 21CB were definitely darker than what came before. I miss the craziness of Nimrod and earlier sometimes too. I have a feeling so do they.
