Close.  Right now, I'm "The Secret of the Universe" at 42.  High five to the first person that gets the reference without Googling it.  Where all my intellectuals at?

To think that twenty-four hours ago I would wake up to Green Day releasing a greatest hits album, I would have said you were lying.  The album has a great name and artwork.  Yes, there are songs that I would like to see on the album, but that is neither here nor there.  It's a great introduction for new fans, and a nice throwback for us old enough to buy greatest hits for bands and artists we started to get into.  For that reason alone I would get the album.  The fact that we get a new track, which I hope is an original, and a new version of Ordinary World is icing on the cake.  Seeing that Miranda Lambert is featured on this new version of Ordinary World makes me think that this version could be released to country radio as a single, while Back In the USA gets a release on rock radio.  Miranda Lambert is one of the biggest artists in country music, and while it wouldn't seem like Green Day would get a pass on country radio because they aren't conservative enough for the typical country fan, this could get them a pass in.  I have mixed feelings on where the country genre is today since I grew up on that type of music, but Ordinary World with Miranda Lambert on it could gain some traction on radio.  Plus, as it has been mentioned already it gives them a chance for additional TV promo and opportunities for touring until the next studio release.  My mind jumped ahead for the possibility of Billie or the entire band performing with Miranda Lambert at the CMA Awards in Nashville on November 8th.  It would be a highly unlikely proposition, but there are a few days off during the South American Tour (November 8-9th) that they could make a surprise appearance.  That award show usually has huge ratings and could open the door to new fans.  I'm excited for what is to come, and who would have thought any of this would have been possible just one day ago.

*If I had to make a guess for the new music video, it would be between Forever Now or Back In the USA, with the tiebreaker going to Forever Now.  I mean wasn't Sam Bayer supposed to be directing a video for Forever Now, which Billie said in an interview?  It would be a bit of a letdown if that isn't a reality.  It would fall in the same disappointment I have on whether or not the American Idiot movie will ever get made and released on HBO.

Hitchhiker' guide to the universe I think?

Just listened to the Chuck Berry song, and while I would prefer a new GD song, I think they could make a great version of that and we all know Billie loves old songs, guess we just need to patient. Well, we can try lol.

This definitely should have been all songs released after International Superhits but I love the album art and am really excited for the new song

Love the album art, the songs are pretty meh but that's a given when you're a big fan and it's a GH album. So excited about what this will bring; more performances etc. It's about time that they released another GH album and I'm really happy about all this, especially if the new song isn't a cover! ..but if it is I'll be stoked anyway of course

I really like the track listing, it’s perfect for someone who doesn’t wanna jump in straight away and find their entire back catalogue and it’s got a good mix of songs. My best friend just had a baby so when she’s slightly older this is gonna be a present from her bad influence auntie 😏

Best book ever. I hope you have lots of towels.

I've never bought anything from the US Green Day store before but I really really want that disciple CD bundle for Christmas. Does the shipping/fees end up being too bad? I'll probably get it anyway but just wondering.

I was wondering the same thing, as far as I know you have to pay the custom charge of your country when the package arrives, which would be an additional 19% for me in Germany, I don't know about UK. So it's still pretty damn worth it and I ordered my disciples bundle :D What I'm still wondering is: Will it arrive in time for Christmas? International shipping from the USA can take very long, even if it's air mail, so I'm really hoping it arrives because it's my Christmas gift and I wanna have it under my tree:happyhands:

@LaughingClock Thanks so much for all the info, I'm beyond excited. This is the best era to be a GD fan ever:wub:

It seems to be random whether you get a customs charge or not here so I'll just hope I don't , but if not it won't be too bad. I'm hoping to have it for Christmas as well, just have to wait and see I guess.

Wait what, rumours where?

The thought of a tour for this didn't even cross my mind but BOY am I ready* to indebt myself even further to see them again:runaround:

(*read: so not ready :fuckyou::wub: )

I don't know if there have been rumours online or anything, but people said some of the crew guys implied it to them on the last US tour leg. Someone who knows about most things in advance told me the same but it really is just rumours at this point, even if they're planning it we won't know for sure it's going ahead until it's announced.

Let's hope it's true! I am not even 5% ready but a tour would still be the best thing about this (for me anyway) :D

Um hello they already toured this version of their greatest hits, it was called the Revrad tour. In fact it has yet to conclude touring.

Hey, I wouldn't complain, I didn't get to hear Warning, Brain Stew, Oh Love or WMUWSE when I saw them this year :P

Though I have seen most of these songs live before...

Posted

Oh Love isn't my preferred Trilogy song but it's still a Trilogy song so I'll take it. Warning and a full band 21 Guns would be nice too. I'm not sure it really makes any difference to the people annoyed about the setlist whether they tour this or not though? We'll be waiting a while for the next album either way, surely shows to fill the gap are better than nothing. You'll know in advance that you'll be unhappy with the setlist, so it shouldn't be too disappointing.

Won't the Grammy nominations be announced around the time this greatest hits is released? Could be a good one two punch.

What could be bad about it?

Reading some of the negativity in this thread makes me wonder this because I really can't see a bad side to it :P

I want to buy a bundle with the candles, mostly just because they'll match @wood's Hispanic-Christianity-themed bathroom.

Holy shit. Those candles are so boss! I may actually consider buying those.

I don't think I'll be buying this. But I might enter contests to see if I win it like I did with RevRad, I have two copies I won sitting at home (one is my sister's but it's still in the casing) xD
