-Billiejoezee- Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 All my old high school friends send me this joke every year so I’m pretty fed up with it myself cause like..it’s 2017 y’all there’s no humor to this whatsoever it’s old and outdated and billy jo has been up this whole month already
Montclare Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 I have no strong opinion on this one way or the other, but I do find it tasteless that people are posting it (and then arguing whether or not it's okay to post it) on Billie's Instagram picture about Rocky's death.

I mean I don't think the jokes are remotely funny or necessary (especially not considering they've been told 239343248 times at this point) but the super aggressive reactions are also very unnecessary.

I agree, there are two ends of the spectrum, those who actually think the joke is funny and those who think it's offensive
pouty bitch Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 I don't find the joke particularly offensive, it just makes me cringe. Like, it's been 12 years, are people not over it now?

But at the same time it’s also cringy cause like I like good jokes and that’s definitely not one, it’s unoriginal and boring. I much rather all the Halloween October 1st jokes!

Billie's starting using social media more recently theirs no need for him to seeing thousands of the same tweets on Twitter . It takes courage to do a song like that and getting the pissed taking out of you even by some of your own fans is so disrespectful .
Eva Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Everyone takes the Internet too seriously and I doubt Billie Joe even checks his mentions anyway so who cares. #thread

I can understand why a lot of people could be offended because, as you say, they relate to the meaning of the song. Personally, I don't really relate to the song, so it's not a massive issue for me. It's just purely the fact that it's such a fucking bad joke that makes me hate it. Even the first year that it happened (although I wasn't really around then), I can't imagine it being particularly funny back then. The fact that it's still going on after 12 years makes me wonder what is wrong with people. 6 minutes ago, AimieeSmith said: I don't get why this is even a thread it's nothing new. I don't really see it as fans taking the piss, I think a huge portion of the people that make those jokes probably aren't even fans - they're just people that have heard the song and don't necessarily know what it's about. Some people may find it disrespectful, some may not. Personally, I don't, but I can understand why people might. Although, I wish people wouldn't tag Billie in their posts. If they really insist on making their stupid jokes, they should do it without tagging him. He shouldn't have to be spammed with annoying bullshit.

September has gone at last, the tweets are coming so fast, shut the fuck up when October comes?? This made me laugh so hard that I snorted. LOL
Eric Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Never has been funny, even Billie's response of "Shut The Fuck Up When October Comes." thing wasn't funny.

Billie Hoe Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Every goddamn year As always I'm not offended by this, just annoyed... this joke is not funny not because it's offensive but because it's 12 years old, lame and repetitive. Being known as the "green day girl" means I'll get tagged in memes and messaged about this pretty much all the time... However, I don't know what annoys me more - this joke or people yelling at others for being "insensitive fucks who joke about death" a whole month before the jokes even start. 2 hours ago, Eric said: Never has been funny, even Billie's response of "Shut The Fuck Up When October Comes." thing wasn't funny. Well, I think he of all people is allowed to joke about this, since the joke is on him.
pacejunkie punk Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Really his best response was “Get a life.”

I don't think it's taking the piss out of him at all. It's a good natured joke based on the wording of the title, nothing against him or the content of the song. Like, the song JAR is about a friend dying right, and yet Tre will complete the line "All I want to do is..." with "SUCK BIG TITTIES". Because GD understand that a joke based on one line of a song ≠ making fun of the content of the song. Billie hasn't said he's offended and has joined in with the joke so I don't really know why fans have decided it's disrespectful to him on his behalf The only thing I'm offended by is that Liam didn't make the thread on time

And yeah if anyone actually thinks they're being original that's just silly . At least we know @Liam wasn't the first to make the joke this year though
DeJennsitized Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I just really hate the spread of false info, so the PSAs about the joke that suggest Billie himself has said something about it really annoy me not to mention that fake Green Day tweet going around telling people to shut the hell up. If people used the joke to make some original memes I wouldn't mind that, but that hasn't happened yet

I sometimes venture onto Tumblr looking for something newsworthy to bring back here and oh my god the unholy amount of brain farts I came across on one page alone This individual seems to have been posting state of the union length PSAs for weeks now demanding that nobody destroy Billie's delicate soul by uttering a word about September, the ending of it or waking up. Maybe if this person (or any of the others out there wasting their Augusts - Octobers annually) took five minutes to research (or read this thread ) they'd see Billie is partial to a "September joke" himself. As for that annoying funeral story they're so fond of and the stupid accompanying drawing...that was clearly the work of someone excruciating like these posters who needed a good backstory to defend their excessive behaviour about a song!!
