I get that but it works the other way too. There are people with disabilities or who have other commitments who can't endure queuing for that long and the VIP is probably a godsend to them. I just see it as another option for people to get to the front. I'm saying this as someone who's never bought VIP or camped overnight for a gig, but I don't see anything wrong with either option personally

I love to mosh but being at the barrier is a rare thing, I don't even want to know how fucking early you have to get there to have that spot (and do you pee into water bottles or what?) If you stop drinking around 2-3 hours before doors and use the bathroom 1-2 hours before doors, you're usually fine for the whole show. A lot of times you can get your spot on the barrier, wait a few minutes for people behind you to come up and get to know them, then tell them you're going to the bathroom and will be right back and they'll let you in. As long as you go quickly, you'll be able to get back before too many more people are on the floor. If you're more towards the side instead of the middle, you can even easily go in between the opener and Green Day. 21 hours ago, -Billiejoezee- said: My personal opinion is that I wouldn’t buy VIP knowing that there are so many fans out in the sun and sleeping on the floor because they’re not rich enough for vip, I’d feel guilty, but that’s just me and in no way saying you should feel guilty at all either! Not everyone who gets VIP is rich. Some people wait til the day of the show when someone who's friend couldn't come is selling it for $100-200, but even if you buy it at full price, there's other things you have to consider. Most of the people I know who camp out are also going to multiple shows. The price of one VIP ticket is the cost of 4-5 shows. So if you have a busy work schedule and can't camp out, or you want to treat yourself because it's your hometown show or birthday, or can only go to one show on the tour, it doesn't really mean you're rich, or at least any richer than the people who can afford to follow the tour around.

I get that, and that’s fair enough, but I just think the whole VIP thing is ridiculous for many reasons. First of all what you get for it isn’t really anything, it’s wayyy overpriced. Second, there should probably be a limit on how many vips they sell. There’s pit and seats and I’ve seen the vip seats and if you get vip just to have some “nice” seats, which are practically the same view as other regular seats, just minor differences like the quality seating and drinks, then you’re probably a bit richer. Now those who want the pit vip surely want barricade. And that’s all fine but there should be a limit as to how many so that others who weren’t so lucky to be able to get vip could also get a chance at barricade, especially if they’re camping out. But honestly the whole thing is a sham anyways because there’s many vips who for some reason weren’t able to get barricade anyways, even though they wanted to. So both parties get screwed. I don’t know, just not a fan of them. But this isn’t a topic to discuss vip either lol
*dry_ice* Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I am one of those who wants to stray on barrier until the end xD
Paola17 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Wouldn't necessarily leave the barrier unless it's towards the end, in which, like sfs said, some crowd surfing wouldn't hurt. WIth that being said, I'm glad the spots I've had this past tour on or near the barrier have had enough room for one to move around freely during the show. As for which songs I'd go completely nuts over: American Eulogy Horseshoes and Handgranades (how can you not) Dirty Rotten Bastards (are we still intensely hoping that it'll be played?) CIgarettes and Valentine (ohh, that AAF recording...) EJN Murder City Having a Blast 409 (crowd loved it at webster) Honestly, why not have your intensity on high for most of the show?
gaslight13 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 I love mosh pits and there are many bands I really like that I opt for the pit over barricade every time, but unless Green Day decides to do a set of only their first two albums and maybe insomniac (in which case I'd rather be in the pit) then I'd stay on the barricade. It's more important to me to be able to see the band during the less-punky songs that I love, than it is to be in the pit during the more-punky songs that I love and once you give up your spot during the show, it's gone for good!
JellyTime Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Leaving barrier is just not an option for me. I can have a great fun in the first row, jumping and screaming like crazy, moshing isn't necessary
