That Dude Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Usually about 3 years between records. I'd say October 2019 would be a good time frame. This year they can do other projects, get their head in the game and decide what direction the album should take....I was going to say IF it should have a direction, but I believe they won't go directionless again. I hope they take risks on the next album. Big. Risks. I hope they make mistakes. Like Billie said, anything great comes from a series of mistakes. They could make all slow songs. or all fast songs. I don't want it to sound like anything they've done before, or to be approached like any record they've done before. Green Day will hit 30 before their next album comes out. It's time to put out an album that could potentially be hated. It's time to put out something that is staggering. I'm hearing a three-part harmony with the guys standing around old fashioned mics......followed by rip-roaring snarling guitars. I'm hearing loud/quiet songs that could be compared to Nirvana, but don't really sound like Nirvana. I'm hearing Billie Joe's voice breaking and tears falling onto microphones as he actually opens up the deepest wounds of his life and lays them down on the vinyl. I'm hearing choirs. I'm hearing guitars, oh lord I'm hearing guitars. ALBUM !# - The White Album! - The Green Album!

Didn't know I wanted this until you suggested it, it would be awesome and Billie could get that moustache back for a video oh, and stripey jackets all round. 2. I think we have that already but sure we'll get it again. 3. Always from this band. 4. Nah, way too obvious. Bet they wish they'd never told us about Jesus Christ Supermarket or they would have used it.

Green Day are going Doo-Wop next record!
localinsomniac Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I would be 100% on board with a doo wop track. To me, one of the highlights of Masked Intruder's last LP was a song in that style called Almost Like We're Already In Love.
Thatsername Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Billie also said that they made or are about to make more Otis remixes of songs when Fell For You was released, and that's a while ago. So who knows what they're doing. But I still think it's possible they're working on new stuff already. We heard from reliable sources that they want to make a new record rather sooner than later, so it's a possibility. A new album in 2019 would be just
LaughingClock Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Am I the only one who would be just fine with any album even if it sounded identical to any single one of their old albums? Don’t get me wrong, I love new styles and tries but I’m good with another version of Dookie or AI or RevRad for that matter. I love it all going back to Sweet Children. I’ve often philosophised about why I love this Green Day band so much and one day I realized it’s a thing that’s intangible with every song, regardless if they are polar opposites, I love it because it’s them. I know this because I don’t get that from all the side projects. I like the music from all the side projects but there pretty much is not a Green Day song that I just don’t like. Yeah, I have to be the oddest person to be a fan-boy in the Universe. I’m honestly fine with that.

I don’t mind if the new album sounds identical to another album as long as it’s organic like as long as the songs aren’t just them forcing the songs to sound the same if that makes sense

That's the kind of explanation, brought up to non-GD fans who would ask why we love them so much, that may sound totally ingenuous to them while it's the truth.
Billie Joes Eyelids Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 You guys are so poetic this morning, you’re making me emotional 😢
MillenniumFan Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Draw you’re own conclusions (which, especially considering the past, would be very wise; I.e. I wouldn't overinterpret this), but seems like (assuming this is a recent picture) Billie is currently at Otis: Btw (and this is, contrary to what I said, adding to the speculation): I hope they don’t actually record anything other than demos there, once they eventually might be thinking about recording some material (which once again might be now, but almost certainly isn’t). Or at least once again hire a producer and mixing/mastering team (that’s just my preferred Green Day sound, even if it includes the risk of having a trilogy low point).
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Does this mean the Earth is flat? Probably not, but teasing is always a good sign
pacejunkie punk Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I’m gonna guess demos since Tre isn’t in town. Great sign though. Good things are happening.
Christian's Inferno! Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I really doubt it's a new studio album yet. It's probably just demos or something. I hope it's not a new album because I think it is too soon

Good things are happening. This is my thought at well. Wouldn't be surprised if they had a band meeting when Tre was in town a few weeks back and talked about what direction they wanted to go and now Billie's putting together actual demos. Or he's got nuthin' and is taking selfies at Otis because he's bored an uninspired (speculating while keeping expectations low )
pouty bitch Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Nah, I don't think they're recording a new album yet, that seems much too soon. I'm just excited that they seem to be doing something, although we don't know exactly what.
luketrebilliemike Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Maybe billies there becomes he’s recording a new solo project, playing pop songs on an acoustic guitar
Joe. Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 As long as it's not self produced at this point I'm cool with pretty much anything they put out
JellyTime Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Billie clearly wants to show us that he's doing something in Otis and it's a very good sign
Clockwise Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Bring on a new self-produced Otis record. I'd be happy if this is how they made records for the rest of their career tbh.

Clockwise Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I disagree that it sounded poor. It's the closest they've gotten to that raw Kerplunk sound in forever. 21CB is probably my least favorite GD record so I wouldn't be too stoked if they picked Vig.

I have no issues with how RevRad sounds and, in terms of how Billie's voice sounds, I would put 21CB in my bottom three. Half the time he sounds either like he just smoked a pack of cigarettes or is standing 10 feet away from the mic and the mic has a towel over it. I'm all for them self producing at Otis if that's what they want to do. If they want to go the producer/big studio route, I'm fine with that too. Whatever they feel is best. 6 hours ago, luketrebilliemike said: Maybe billies there becomes he’s recording a new solo project, playing pop songs on an acoustic guitar I'd love a solo acoustic album from him, especially if it included Olivia and Minnesota Girl.
pacejunkie punk Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 ^^^ only disagree about the voice on 21CB. Other than overdoing the vocal effects at times (which he did on RevRad a bit too) I think he sounds great.
Hermione Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The only thing that bothers me about the sound of Rev Rad is some of the quiet parts are so much quieter than the loud parts that I have to turn the volume up to even hear them and then turn it down again for the rest of the song to be at a non-deafening volume. That is ridiculous and shouldn't have happened. Other than that it sounds fine though so if they can avoid that I don't mind if the next album is self produced . Especially if it's something they find really works for them and allows for more creative freedom or better self expression or a better atmosphere while making the album etc, it's not purely about the sound quality.
