So this era is possibly over.  Is there any chance we'll get to hear "Outlaws", "Bouncing off the Wall" or "Say Goodbye" live????

I was really expecting to hear Say Goodbye at some point to be honest. If I remember correctly, a snippet of it was played live in one of the radio interviews they did in 2016 promoting the album, they included it in Holiday and it sounded SO good. Say Goodbye totally has the Holiday vibe. I hope to hear it one day!

At the Columbus show (first one of the tour) I swear the crew tested some sound effects when they were soundchecking instruments that sounded just like they’d fit in the Say Goodbye chorus. I was expecting to hear it too. It’s one of those songs that I don’t enjoy much on the album but I’d enjoy it live.

True! ''Violence on the riseee'' and ''I beg to dreaaam'' have a quite similiar beat

I'm truly surprised BOTW never made it in.  That seemed tailor made for a live show.  Would have made sense to switch it out with Youngblood occasionally.

Tre could pull it off

Haha, okay fair. If Tre wants to include a song on the end that's got banjos and is a bit of a joke, I'm all for that. But if they turn into Mumford and Sons, I'm literally moving to another planet, that's how out I would be.

So this era is possibly over.  Is there any chance we'll get to hear "Outlaws", "Bouncing off the Wall" or "Say Goodbye" live???? What are the statistics for them debuting songs years after they come out?   *researching now*   It does like there is hope.  "Walking Alone" was played for the first time in 2014 - an astounding 17 years after its release.  Unfortunately that's the only one I could track down on short notice, so I don't think they debut songs like that often.

Green Day have done a great job at playing most of their songs at least once.  From the 12 studio records, there are only 11 songs that have been completely, totally ignored.  And the recorded version of "Song of the Century" was played a lot, so that one kind of has been played.

Perhaps they will shift their set lists a bit while on the road for ALBUM 13 to include such tracks from Kerplunk, Insomniac, Dos, Tre and Revolution Radio once in a while.

I'm hoping Album 13 ushers in a new era of Green Day completely.  New sound, new set list, new....banjos!

are you serious about banjos? what completely new sound can u imagine them doing?

Haha, I completely agree with you. But at the same time if they decided to tour tomorrow and it was Tre on the bongos, Mike on the thumb tambourines, and Billie on the triangle with Yoko Ono on vocals I'd probably buy multiple tickets the second they went on sale and travel multiple cities to see it. I'm joking but also kind of serious.

Re-reading my stream of consciousness nonsense above, maybe the downtime between tours is healthy for fans as well as the band.

They did soundcheck Say Goodbye in its entirety at the Xcel Energy Center in April. We could hear it very well from the lobby of the building. Far from my favorite song on the album, but in hindsight it's cool that we got to hear pretty much the only performance of it.

Concept album called ST. JIMMY!   Black cover with the title splattered in blood.

Broken into two parts.

Rage / Love.

The first 7 songs will be very fast, hard and raw.  The final Rage song will be called Alcohol and Cigarettes and Valentines and be about 13 minutes long.

the Love songs will be slower songs.

The album will finish with an epilogue of 3 songs which are blazing hard rock and super different than any Green Day music that's come before.  They are sort of a trilogy of songs that wrap up the St. Jimmy storyline and reveal how Jimmy and Jesus are one in the same, but they are both dead.  Billie is Billie and is still freaking out.  But he's become comfortable with the sofa pillows, yet still doesn't put off revolutions for another day.  He's a true punk rocker, the one he's always wanted to be.  St. Jimmy is dead, long live Billie Joe!

The album ends with a massive guitar solo that starts out with a 1039 sound and works its way through each era, ending with a preview of what is to come on the wildly anticipated Album 14!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got fuckin' goosebumps reading this

I wasn't really, but I wouldn't mind some banjos.  Maybe not a banjo-centric track but one that has some picking throughout.

Of course they could stick to what they do best and just rock out on their guitars.  That works too.

I was just over on the Linkin Park thread and it gave me another wacky idea for Green Day!

We've talked about Green Day going darker, harder or more punk.

But what if they do the opposite.  If it were done right, I wouldn't mind a lighter, more pop-oriented album.

When I first heard One More Light I did not like it.  But after the third or fourth listen, I opened up to it and it, to me.  It is a beautiful album, rock or pop purists be damned.   It's a work of art and I feel like it's more timeless than their other work.

Green Day + Keyboard, programming and a softer sound.

The people who called Green Day sellouts back in 1994......their heads will explode with ravenous revulsion and they will drop dead.  LOL.

OML has grown on me too but I'd still consider it my least favourite LP album. I'd be quite hesitant if GD were to release an album like that. I mean, I wouldn't want them to sound the same as everything else on the charts or anything.

I imagine that more stuff like Ordinary World is kind of the lighter GD that we would get if they went that way and honestly, that isn't a track I care for.

I mean keep in mind, Rev Rad was recorded before Trump etc.

I mean the world has gone to complete shit now, so they're probably more inspired than ever to write some songs.

I mean, LP always had that electronic influence to them so it wasn't THAT much of a stretch to adapt to the current mainstream music climate.

Green Day on the other hand are far too inspired by The Who, The Clash and for lack of a better term "guitar music" that I just can't see them going in that direction ever.

Wow, I've got to say I'm not a big fan of the holiday theme on here.  WOW.  Maybe I'm just addicted to the red and black at this point.

No Christmas single?  Guess I'll take Rancid up on another free download !

You can scroll all the way down and when you click "Theme" you can change back to the standard black and red.

I predict the album to come out in the first half of 2019 or something like that. It will have 16 tracks, and a lot of them will sound like Holiday and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, but one will sound like F.O.D and one random song will be added in as a successor of All By Myself, i predict the title of that song to be: ''By The Walls''.

I also think that after this album in 2019, they will rest for 2 or 3 years, and come out with an album in 2022 when they all are 50.

If i made an error on the language, i'm sorry, it's not my first language.

I predict the album will come out in late 2018, all songs will sound just like Green Day, except for Nightlife, which sounds like shit. no one remembers the Trilogy, so Dos will pass as a new album.

Whoa, they did play a little bit of "Say Goodbye"  !!!!!!!!!!!!

that was a weird performance though.   I usually don't criticize anything the band does live other than hey-ho's, but they really looked bored through this whole song, particularly Billie.  Off day I guess?

Anyway.   Have they done anything like this with "Outlaws" or "Bouncing"?

It was for radio so there wasn’t an audience exactly and it was early in the morning.

Green Day XIII.

What oh what could it be.

A cross between Nimrod and Revolution Radio?

A dash of American Idiot sprinkled over a new, harder sound?

It's been almost a decade since 21st Century Breakdown (!)  so maybe it's time to do another concept album.   (I know, I know....give me a break, they were sooooo good!)

Except this time around the story is clear.  The songs are monster huge.

aaaaaaaaaaaannd Tre gets a serious song.

I've been asking for years.  They've gotta do it eventually.
