Schlappy Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Shout out to the MVPs in the audience that were sreaming for Billie

I also like that they dedicated a minute to talking about the album cover. A good handful of people stood up too both when he first came out and at the end so that was nice to see. I talked to several people in the stand by line who didn't know who he was (hard as that is to believe) so I was glad he had support in the crowd. Also, fun story. (Side note: If anyone else was there and wants to correct the details I get wrong, please do)....While they were setting up the stage for Billie, Jimmy came into the crowd and told us a story about a time when he and Billie were both at a party. He said that at the end it was just him, Billie, and I think Mick Jagger (forgive my memory, it's been a long day) were the only ones left. Pretty sure it was Mick's party. Billie told Mick to play something. Jimmy said he was thinking the whole night that he wanted Mick to play something, but he'd never dare ask, so he was glad Billie did. Mick said no, but apparently Billie insisted over and over again until he finally gave in. He said Mick played three songs and it was a surreal moment for him so he was grateful that Billie did that since it gave him such a cool experience.
pacejunkie punk Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 ^^^ What a great story! I can just picture him begging going “C’mon! Do it! Pleeeeeeaaase? C’moooooonnnnn!!” 😂
pacejunkie punk Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 Okay credit where it was due...that was the best performance of that song I’ve seen. I think he improved upon it. The vocal sounded deeper and fuller and he dropped the ooh oohs in the instrumental. 100% better. That was great.
The Grohl Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 I dunno Billie's voice sounded a bit tired to me. And I'm disappointed that it was just OW again, but I'm always happy to my boy on TV

Sheehan looks like a sexy mofo when he's rocking an accoustic like nobody else can in the world (that's not a flamenco player or something) No, no, no - you cannot use "Sheeran" and "sexy" in the same sentence, it's against the laws of nature see, even spellchecker hates him, it's changing it Sheehan ever time 😂 Think he looked and sounded great, very stripped down version, I like the oows but maybe he is resting his voice for tonight.
AimieeSmith Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Official video just posted on Youtube ........
pouty bitch Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Beautiful performance. I always think I'm over this song, but then I see him play it live, and I love it all over again.
Chin for a Day Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 He looked great and I am one of the few people that likes that song, but he just sounded off.

I am a straight man and from my vantage point when he's playing, he looks sexy to me. Apparently most women, and my wife disagree but it's not gonna change my personal subjective opinion. 7 minutes ago, Scattered Wreck said: He looked great and I am one of the few people that likes that song, but he just sounded off. Who doesn't like that song? And it's mesmarizing live.
Thatsername Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Beautiful performance! I had hoped for Fuck These People though

I would say he sounded great but looked a bit off, I dunno ; his voice is loaded with emotion, and when I look at him he just looks far above it all. Elusive, astonishingly beautiful. He made me cry immediately Funny he didn't sing the "ooh-ooh" because he nails it each time.

I don't think he sounded particularly bad, but as others have said, I think he sounded tired. Which is pretty understandable at this stage. I just don't think it was the best performance of this song. I think he looked great! So I can just watch the performance with the sound off. 4 hours ago, jengd said: No, no, no - you cannot use "Sheeran" and "sexy" in the same sentence, it's against the laws of nature This x 10,000, just the thought of Ed Sheeran sexy makes my stomach queasy.

I don't disagree having just watched it. Almost sounded like he had a cold or something. He wasn't off key or anything, just very "vanilla". At the iHeart show however many months ago, this song stole the show (granted it was a small weak industry crowd) but when he played it, it was wholly different than that perfofmance of it. Put it this way, the performance at the Burbank Studios drew tears from people. This one, while beautiful, not so much.

Of course, the fact that I was standing 5 feet from him when he sang it might have had something to do with it. He can, and has many times, performed this song many times with unimaginable emotion. I just don't think this was one of them
Hermione Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 I think he sang very well. I like hearing him sing acoustic with everything else stripped back like that. It's a shame he didn't do the "oooh oooh"s though
inthehallwaynow Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Was this after or before he was on the Michael Moore thing? Maybe his voice was strained from doing that? I'm not sure but he did sound a tad gruff but I think it added to the song. I never choose to listen to ordinary world usually but when I hear it I dont turn it off if that means anything haha

I actually prefer his deeper voice. A lot of his singing on recent things has been high and reedy, kind of thin. His deeper voice has more warmth.
gaslight13 Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 I thought it sounded great, but it was better in person. And he looked great (seriously, who is arguing that he doesn't look great? He looks better here than he did at Michael Moore.) He did soundcheck for GC right before this so maybe he sang it the way he did to go easier on his voice.
DookieLukie Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Nice and all, but it's just such a boring song. No one is going to look up Green Day after hearing this.
