Maybe he'll do an acoustic tribute to Husker Du 😂

Great, I can watch the Tonight Show on TV here in Germany too. I really hope it's an interview, I'm kind of missing those. The performances were great, but there used to be more late night show interviews with them too.

Do you think he'd want to add fuel to the fire that is the annual "wake up the guy from green day" jokes :D

Is this show on German TV? Which channel? I might have a chance to watch it too. (Excitement level just went from 0 to 100 )

I doubt he cares. After all being a meme isn't that bad for publicity

It's broadcasted on "ONE" (from ARD/Das Erste) and it's not a private channel either, so you should have it, I guess :) They're always a day late or something than the original, but they're not dubbed (thank god) but with german subtitles. I'm gonna check when exactly they'll show that episode!

@Jane Lannister Okay, I just checked and apparently the episode with Billie will be on TV on Monday evening (the 25th) at 11:30 PM (and then again at 2:40 AM). They don't air the show on weekends, or else we'd see it on Saturday already :(

Thank you very much!!! It's awesome, it's quite possible I can catch this channel. :runaround: On the shit side, it's quite likely I won't be home Monday night haha.

Dammit, I want to watch this on TV.  Thanks again.

Btw have I mentioned I love German TV, you have so many wacky reality shows. I swear they'll be the only reason why I'll pass my A level.

Before Green Day hits the stage at Central Park on Saturday for The Global Citizen Festival (which will be broadcast on MSNBC live starting at 2PM EST),

I checked MSNBC on my TV listings for 1PM Central on Friday (which I think is 2PM Eastern) and there's nothing about The Global Citizen Festival. Where did you hear this?

To add to the comments about what he'll play...I honestly would love for him to do anything but the obvious acoustic songs (ordinary world, good riddance, etc). I'll never understand why there are so few solo acoustic videos for this band (apart from the songs they already play this way every time). I can think of other rock bands who don't have a single acoustic song on a given record and yet between radio appearances and the like, you could almost form an entire acoustic version of one of their albums. Not that I wanna exclude the other guys but there's some songs that really would benefit from a more intimate acoustic rendition.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about with his voice on Still Breathing this past run. I went to three shows and his voice sounded better than ever on that song. I know he was struggling with it for a bit but I think he's solved whatever was giving him trouble. The inhaler he was using right before it might've done the trick. I'd love to see him do this one acoustic but I think it's a long shot.

I love to see them on these shows, but would probably prefer the whole band.  Feel like us OW's time has passed, guess we'll just need to wait and see!

Just saw a post on Tumblr, could be nonsense, that Billie Joe is on Watch What Happens Live on 26th but did he not do that last year, think it was a bit of a non-event or maybe just Couldn't see much of it in UK, thought to host was a pratt!

confurmed, see new thread, another Billie appearance!

I agree, but is his voice up to it? This last leg of the tour he has really struggled and having the band and the audience singing with him helped to cover some notes he couldn't hit. It would be powerful if he could do it, though.

That's also true. He seems to have the biggest problem with the loud high notes, so singing it in a softer voice might be easier for him

I love to sing SB but I only do it when I'm more or less alone because you have to scream to hit that high note every time. Even when getting it correct (high enough), it doesn't always sound as "bright" as Billie on the album version. Considering the moment in the concert where he comes to SB, no wonder it's not always that bright. It's the same for many other songs during the performance, only as SB asks to repeatedly touch that high, loud note, we can clearly hear that's he's straining his voice. Most of the time he does get high enough (at least for part of the "still" occurrences).

During the late 2016 concerts in smaller venues, the shows were slightly shorter and you can hear that his voice during Still Breathing was less strained because of that. Here at 1:11 for example :

Yeah, same! I actually prefer when he sings it with a strained voice, somehow I find it more sexy and addictive, because he has to struggle a bit to hit the high note.

Spoiler

I admit that to be my sadomaso side. :eyebrows:

Moreover, what greater pleasure than to be asked to sing with him along that song?

Okay, if he doesn't play Fuck These People on Fallon I'm going to be extremely disappointed

Exactly. Imagine it's an acoustic song that only consists of him screaming profanities gently strumming along

I don't think he sounded strained though. Honestly, he sounded up to the level of the recording for all three shows I went to.

So it's like an acoustic version of Platypus.  :)

I'm afraid since he's on Fallon and by himself, he's gonna play Ordinary World again. While that's not terrible, it'll be too similar to what we saw on Conan last year.

I would die for acoustic Redundant, No Pride, Macy's Day Parade, Words I Might Have Ate, Extraordinary Girl, Give Me Novocaine etc...

...but that's maybe, just maybe, a tiny bit unrealistic

Seriously though, Florence Welch's acoustic version of Platypus was beautiful so I fully support this.

I wonder what makes that song so hard?

It requires particularly powerful singing and tests his vocal range. Very low notes for his range in the verses followed by high, need-to-be-powerful notes in the chorus. Even if he didn't pull it off perfectly I'd still love to see him play it acoustic though.

But of course my vote goes to Fuck These People :P

So my boss just told me I can take the next two days off for Rosh Hashanah so if anyone hears of an available extra ticket or ticket drop for this let me know!

When I mean strained, I mean the difference between album version and live, which is totally normal and show up in every song. It's even clearer on Still Breathing because of the moment when Billie comes to it in the show, and because that song is very demanding in terms of vocals anyways. Indeed, despite all that, Billie has had the high notes right. Maybe I don't use the term "strained" correctly as I'm not a native American, but then again, I really find him to give all he's got particularly during this song, and it's so damn sexy

I hope he sings that great new hit everyone's been talking about, "Shut the Fuck Up When October Comes"  :happyhands:

Yeah, her version of that album's kinda awesome. I'm a fan of The Grouch.
