Montclare Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 You guys! There are only 15 shows left this year! I remember when my shows seemed so far away, and now to see them on the past shows page with so little left to go...
Maddie86 Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I would loveeeee to see them do another club tour since they just did 2 stadium tours of the US this year. that setlist from the hurricane benefit would be great for smaller shows like that!
blueshadows Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I would love for Green Day to headline Osheaga next year in my hometown in Montreal!! if they really do another US tour, I'm totally gonna travel to catch a show, I miss them already!
lizziebix Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 After seeing the band at Wrigley (an absolutely magical night and performance, imo), unless they completely change up the setlist, I really don't know if I'd see them again on this tour. After another new album, sure. That said, don't quote me if they show up near me and my desire to see them again overwhelms the desire for a different setlist!

Not Osheaga! It's always during the same weekend as Otakuthon. I can't go to both! And I don't see myself running from one event to the other with a cosplay on (yet, thinking about it, that would be hilarious). Rockfest will be better for the date, but problematic when it comes down to the location.

I don't mind Rockfest either, as long as we have Green Day! But Osheaga is bigger and more high-profile, so would be more likely for an act like Green Day...
unextraordinarygirl Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 I doubt they will because they already toured the US twice since last year……well, actually 3 times if you count the promotional club tours they did last fall. As much as I would like to see them again, I think they have earned a well deserved long break.

Way too big for Montebello! The highway 50 and the other road leading to Montebello always become like parking lots. The grocery stores become empty very very fast. The nearby hotels and campings are all fully reserved one year in advance. I wouldn't want GD in a festival anyway. But the band can do an outdoor concert like they did in 2010 on Jacques-Cartier pier. I highly doubt GD would do another tour leg for RevRad. And don't they have to film someday American Idiot?

That said, it took the piss out of me doing 7 shows so, I can't even imagine doing 100+ shows (at 45 years old)! I think they should take time off (unless they sincerely don't want to..?). In Cuatro, Mike seems genuinely sad to spend so much time away from his family to make "us" happy. I never want these guys to feel "obligated" to entertain me. When you have a kid, you're up when their up and sleep when they sleep. If the boys are partying I wanna be there. If they're resting, I rest. Don't get me wrong I never want tours to end either! But, I could also use some time to save more money and accrue some vacation time! If any of us get the chance to see them at a festival or one off in the meantime...icing on the cake. Very well said. I used to think that touring was this never ending mishmash of fun and good times. Then I got to actually see what goes into a tour during this cycle (and the hard work put in by the crew- it's an endless cycle of stage setup/ breakdown and driving many hours to the next stop & repeat). Even the band grinds it out the entire time- play your heart out, wind down, sleep until 2pm, repeat, hit the road again. They clearly love it but after a few months even they need some normalcy/ home life again. That goes for everyone from BJA to security to the road management team all the way to the crew. I understand why Jerry Garcia looked like he was 80 when he passed away at 53- it's a real grind. Yes, there was serious, serious drug and alcohol abuse going on there as well but the touring was all part of the vicious cycle- he never truly hit the "reset" button, got back on the rails with a normal home life/ cleaned up between tours. They just kept grinding and partying until he was done. No way we ever want to see anyone go through that. Thank god these guys are living a healthy, clean existence while touring- but even so, from my untrained eye it seems like too much tour life would eventually catch up with anyone, even professionals like them who know how to handle it. I won't begrudge them some time off now...they've earned it and I hope after South/ Central America they rest, recharge, and hit us with some great new material in a couple years.
