Marki. Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Out on the Spotify This was unexpected but I really like the subtle changes they made, sounds great. I won't complain if we get more of these in the future
AmyxLongview Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 I wish the trilogy sounded like this to begin with! I've always liked this song and this version makes it even better. It is kind of random to release this though, unless there's something bigger planned. Listening to this actually makes me a little more disappointed in the trilogy though because it shows how much better it could have been with a little more power behind the guitars.

I have played guitar for 5 years and the only difference i can tell is that they adjusted the gain level from 2 to 4 or something like that. Still the excact same, boring, HORRIBLE lyrics imo. But so what Feels like a odd flashback to 2000 or something. Awful You thought they were going to change the lyrics?? I'm not sure what good it would do to defend the merit of the song just because I observed you were in the minority of people who didn't like either the song or the improvement 😂
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Yup definitely more promotion than the RevRad singles at this point.
DookieLukie Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Lol what is up with the promotion for this remixed deep cut? Their official singles get no attention from the band but this random release does? This reminds me of 2009 when they ignored the album and promoted tracks from the AI musical. Heck, they talk more about the Turn It Around movie than their new music.
GreenDayTheory Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 This is the reason why all the albums after AI got no attention. Later they'll promote for an AI Film or something like that
luketrebilliemike Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Does a couple of tweets and instgram posts from the bands, of which most followers aren't already fans of green day count as good/more promation than green days rev rad singles? Because they got tv apprences and a werid little #stillbreathing and music vids for revrad
That Dude Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 What if Green Day made a habit of re-releasing older songs as singles? They've got a killer disography to choose from, they could have some old songs become hits this way, and it is also a way for them to keep up with trends of modern music sales (I like albums but the world currently does not). Letterbomb could be a good one...

Oh god no, not just old stuff, I wouldn't mind the occasional newly recorded/remix, they could do what mcr did and release lots of singles instead of an album of no one likes albums anymore
luketrebilliemike Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Is the singing the same? And just added new guitar ?

Thatsername Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Hey we have to fix the title of this thread, Spotify is now officially called "the Spotify"

(I posted this before actually hearing the entire song.....I was right though.) Yeah original was fine as is.

I just see this song as one of their very weakest during their career. It just maybe feels like a remastered edition of a song that wasn't even the most popular on the trilogy so i judt can't see the point of the release. 9 hours ago, Too Dumb to Die(s) said: What if Green Day made a habit of re-releasing older songs as singles? Christian's Inferno! Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 OK I'm not saying RevRad's singles have been promoted very well but the idea that this remix has been promoted more than the singles is pretty ridiculous just because of a couple of tweets or messages on social media. Bang Bang and Still Breathing had a few TV performances, each single has had a lyric and music video and all singles have been regularly played live during their tour. Again, not saying that more promotion couldn't be done, especially for RevRad which has had no promotion other than the music video, but really? You think this remix is getting more promotion?
Dimitris Gotsis Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 I kinda wish some of the trilogy songs sounded like that xd

GreenDayTheory Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Billie wanted to re-do his mistakes probably

They realise now how insane that was as Mike talked about crafting the 12 songs on RevRad slowly and one at a time. That's a typical album recording session. But 40-60 songs (Billie said they had over 60) is just inhuman. No wonder it drove them round the bend, exhausted them before the tour even started and left them feeling they could have done a better job mixing certain tracks to get the sound they wanted. It can be hard to appreciate how much work goes into making music but it's a shit ton of work.

Well I think the writing 40-60 songs worked well for 21CB cause I know they wrote a shitload for that album too. There's not a song from 21CB that I don't think is great. Even the B-sides are album-worthy tracks I think. And I think 21CB is superior to RevRad I think both writing 12 songs slowly and carefully and writing loads of songs and picking the best of the bunch can both work well in making an album

They may have written a lot of songs for 21CB but they didn't finish and release that many. That's where the work is. Don't get me wrong, 21CB was an ambitious album too but at the end of the day it was a single album release compared to three.
