Grunt Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Waiting for updates on Green Day fan sites for when their new single at the time, "Hitchin' A Ride" would get played on my local radio station.
nopride84 Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I had to buy the whole Angus soundtrack to get this one new Green day song but it was worth it.
Kaddi. Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Recording American Idiot on tape from the radio and listening to the CD on my Discman non-stop a few months later.
Mato Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 First time hearing Basket Case on BMX XXX soundtrack when I was a kid, asking my dad to teach me how to play it on the guitar. A couple of years later, constantly seeing music video for Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by this band called Green Day, whose band members wore eyeliner, dressed in black, wore ties and those ultimately cool platform shoes. White Les Paul Junior was just a cherry on top. It blew me away. It seemed so real and honest, it had so much attitude, energy, emotion and melancholy, all in couple of simple guitar riffs. It made me start playing guitar, make my own songs, discover many other bands, be open for something different.. It changed my life. I am grateful forever.
That Dude Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 I was born on October 17th, 1985. Green Day started making music shortly after that.
IrelandCalling Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Dookie was omni-present my first year of college, just one of those albums everyone had. 10 years later AI was even more onmi present, and I marvelled at how these guys who made THE album of their career ten years previously (as bands normally experience that once) had come back not just commercially but critically and culturally. And 10 years after that I reconnected again with my then one year old daughter who loved gigs on youtube to calm her for sleep, only if the music was good would she notice and settle and eventually sleep. Favourites were 2005 and 2009 pro shots. I purchased the trilogy in those days also. So 94, 2004 and 2014 big GD years for me
21guns&novacaine Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 At age ten, listening to my sister's boyfriends rambling animatedly about this great band that had won a Grammy for their album, while listening to Viva La Gloria Also talking about how Viva La Gloria was one of their 'great new songs' (definitely one of my faves).
Insomniac186 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I bought Insomniac the day it came out... on cassette.
Nimrod99 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Walking around the halls of my junior high school singing this hit song called Longview. Also a kind of funny moment, but I was watching the premiere of Geek Stink Breath with my friend, and she nearly tackled me when Billie crosses his eyes in the music video .
