DeJennsitized Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Ooh i got a couple! 1. Spending ages flicking through music channels to catch another glimpse of the just-released video for Holiday 2. Downloading a song called Brown Eyed Girl from Limewire because it said it was by Green Day but it was another band 3. My best friend sending me webcam clips of her listening to WMUWSE via MSN Messenger
letsdanceon Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Sitting next to the radio with the local alternative rock station on, taping all my favorites onto a mixtape for myself. It included things like Green Day, nirvana, weezer, stone temple pilots, samiam, bush, etc. (I still have the tape)
desertrose Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 buying Green Day's 39 Smooth on cassette and vinyl from lookout records with the Laytonville address on the back of the jacket. (they moved to Berkeley in 1992 and then changed the address) having my first child in 1990, I was 27.
Alan86 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Getting home from school, watching MTV thinking the video for this song is so cool, it just repeats and repeats until that newspaper is taken by the singer and the girl who usually picked it up freaks out. Redundant!
St. Jonny Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 At six years old in 1994 I was spending a lot of time waiting to record the videos I liked. Basket Case was #1. I would lose my shit big time every time I saw Green Day, they looked like such hardcore dudes to a six year old. Never stopped listening, was the only kid in school who had Insomniac, except the others I turned onto it even if I didn't understand the lyrics being only 7 HAHA

Video of Basket Case comes on and my brother turns up the volume. I thought they looked like lunatics at first and asked my brother "what on earth is this?". (He ended up showing me more songs and that was it, screwed for life! )

But you were only like 9 years old back then, weren't you? AI was released shortly before I was old enough to vote for the first time and it made me get involved in politics, it became the soundtrack of my generation and my life. Yes I was 9, and I only saw it on Much Music lol.. I would have loved to be there to see it in person I was 19 when AI came out, and it was basically a rejuvenation of falling in love with them again! I feel old! 👴🏻

Shtrudel Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Listening to one song in repeat for a whole week. Nowdays it's the same but with albums instead.
gaslight13 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Hoping to catch Good Riddance on the radio because I didn't have a dime to my name as a 7 year old and limewire didn't exist yet, haha.
Robin105 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Summer of 2005 sitting home with my brother listening to the Music Choice Hit List channel when BOBD comes on and me telling him to leave it on because I wanted to see what the "big deal" with that song was. Immediately hooked! Then watching Live 8 a few days later and actually seeing what the band looked like and thinking Mike was Tre and Tre was Mike. Lmao.
belinda jane Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Watching the entire hour of Video Hits (there's one for you Aussies) just waiting for the Warning music video. ..and then doing it again like, 4 years later waiting patiently for the American Idiot music video.

MaraGreenDay Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 - Waiting to see the Holiday video on the top 10 on MTV. - Voting for Green Day on the MTV VMAs 2005 cause I wanted them to win every category lol. 16 hours ago, Robin105 said: thinking Mike was Tre and Tre was Mike. Good old Teletext! I think that's where I heard about Foxboro too!! I guess my 'thing' was going to see GD at Milton Keynes Bowl for the first time. I don't know if that give's away my age or not though...
