MillenniumFan Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 No, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are more popular and ''all the rage'' than Green Day are these days, in my opinion. Not a lot more though and my point still holds true. I still think Green Day's car pool karoake video would at least hit a million views in a relatively short time, if not much more...

It always just turns into Corden trying to show how good of a singer he is and for the most part there are no jokes written, and I don't find his improv funny either For the record I hate Jimmy Fallon's lip sync battle too but I actually like Fallon for the most part

I don't know for certain, but songs from the RHCP's album are doing (or did) much better on the charts and online (on YouTube), so I think they have (or had) more online presence at the time. I'm not sure Green Day would reach 30M views, it's possible, but unlikely. However, if you never try, you'll never know...

Not that I don't like RHCP but I wouldn't have placed them above Green Day in popularity. I would have thought they'd be around the same. Regardless, even if Green Day weren't currently popular, their carpool karaoke would still be a hit because they have popular songs that people do sing along to. It's not like people aren't going to know BOBD or Basket Case even if they're not in the Top 40 these days.

They're hardly a new band, they became popular 23 years ago and plenty of people who got into them then still like them. Plus they've always been an "all ages" kind of band anyway and you don't have to be super young to listen to good music! I agree that RHCP are more popular in the mainstream than GD. They're more of a household name and you're much more likely to see them doing things like carpool karaoke as well as performing TV rather than just performing like GD nearly always does.
MillenniumFan Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 It's just been confirmed: they're playing ''Still Breathing'' :I

Actually, it's kind of bonus footage as it is. I believe the recording was taken from the last time they were on James Corden. Bang Bang was broadcast, and Still Breathing was performed for the studio audience. That performance that originally was exclusive to the studio audience is just only now being shown on TV.

First: A Green Day based fanpage known as Green Day Brasil called this out, and I tend to believe it because it is usually correct. Second: I do know for a fact that Still Breathing was performed for the studio audience, it's on the DL Links By Era page for the episode of the Late Late Show. Still Breathing was definitely the second song performed that night. However the definitive answer lies in the upcoming broadcast, if they wear the same clothing as when they performed Bang Bang, there's your answer.

Whatsinaname Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 It should be on air now. Ugh I'm still awake for this Edit: Oh it's the late late show/James Corden.
Yosuke Hanamura Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Green Day: 1 of 2 reasons I would EVER have the Television turned on late during a school night.
