This was meant to be a fun contemplation of alternative Green Day history, but instead it turned into some weird "GREEN DAY WILL NEVER DIE, LA LA LA LA" thread.

OK, here's what they've said in interviews (paraphrasing as I'm going from memory): Billie: I guess I'd have a job or something, I don't know, I like to work with my hands... Tre: You've got that right! Billie: Oh, Tre... Mike: Well that escalated quickly! Seriously, I remember listening to their Modern Rock Live interview (and I have the cassette copy to prove it) during the Nimrod promo and it was basically 2 hours of this. If the music thing hadn't gone well they could have been a three man comic act, easily. They've matured slightly but thankfully not totally if that makes sense.

I was already in love with the band and their music, but when I listened to this on the radio back during the Nimrod promo era I knew we'd be friends for life. This was a standard Sunday night music show I listened to every week, and most artists were relatively bland and seemingly indifferent about being on the show. Not Green Day- they killed it and were probably the funniest thing I had ever heard up to that point. Looking back, I still don't think I've heard a funnier interview with any band, or even any person. Just purely awesome.

I remember Tre saying "I'd be a burglar, I'd burgle people" But yeah I think the question's already been answered earlier in the thread (so I see no problem with it veering off a bit later). They'd be remembered as a good 90s act but not have the legendary status they've got from American Idiot + being around so long.

I think everyone's aware of that, doesn't mean we can't enjoy Billie's attractive appearance as a bonus. Also I'm pretty sure no one here is being entirely serious/actually thinks it's highly important

I always that Billie look handsome from early days until now, so it doesn't matter to me.
