I'm not surprised that the music video hasn't been released yet. Look at some of GD's more recent singles

Stray Heart - Single released October 15th 2012. Video released November 7th 2012
Kill the DJ - Single released August 14th 2012. Video released August 29th 2012
LOTAG - Single released March 22nd 2010. Video released April 1st 2010
21 Guns - Single released May 25th 2009. Video released October 9th 2009

It could be another while before the video is released

Geez, was it really that long for 21 Guns? That's a massive gap.

Well according to wikipedia, it premiered on 22nd June on MySpace (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/21_Guns_(song)#Music_video), although October 9th is the date it was released on YouTube

If you were expecting something like Bohemian Rhapsody, then your expectations were way too high.

You said that they used a typical song structure but Bang Bang is the most GD typical song structure there is on the album.  If it wasn't for the section with the octaves, it is just a typical 3 chord power chord song.  Forever Now, Somewhere Now, BOTW, Outlaws are all a bit different than a normal GD song structure.  There is nothing dramatically different song structure wise, but there are definitely things that they tried to do differently.  They have always tried to do something a bit different, but never really straying too far from the GD sound.  You can hear a heavy influence of classic rock such as The Who and The Beatles throughout the album.

Whether Billie created a masterpiece or not is subjective.

I agree with you but I just wanted to say that Bang Bang has way more than 3 chords

Pretty funny you guys hyped up this whole REVrad is finally a single, yet don't hear it on radio, no video no nothing. Green Day are the worst with this whole promotion of this album, said it since day one. YIKES!

Who was hyping up this single?? I don't think anyone was expecting RevRad to do anything that BB or SB hasn't already done on the charts. And I don't think GD really care about the album or single's success.

All of you did. Go look around the forum.  I am pretty sure they do care about that stuff!

I recall a discussion about the single. I don't recall anyone saying "Omg this single is gonna be so good and do so well"

And I'm sure GD are happy when a single does well but I don't think they're that bothered about how well they do.

I am not talking about just in this thread. I've notice you guys keeping track of all the numbers that do not matter. You guys watch over youtube views, youtube likes, and everything for songs and this is the typical response when they fuck up! I am sure they care just as much as GDC does!

If GD did care so much about this single, they'd do more promotion for it. They would've actually announced it as a single instead of just letting people find out on their own

And everybody was doing those things before RevRad was announced as the next single. So idk where you're getting this "people hyping up the single"

I'd also like to point out that for most of their albums, the 3rd single doesn't make an impact on the charts. Look at 21CB, after KYE and 21 Guns, East Jesus Nowhere was released as the 3rd single and made no impact on the charts. For the trilogy, Let Yourself Go was the third single, also made little impact. For Warning, Waiting was the 3rd single, again made little impact. This isn't an uncommon thing at this point in a Green Day album's promotion. I mean, at this point pretty much everyone who would have wanted to hear the song has heard it already

They are just completely clueless on how to drop a single. You guys were hyping up stop being in denial!  Also stop referring to older songs that have no relevance right now to 2017. A third single could of done wonders for the album but they chose awful times to release any of this. With the right promotion there is no reason why this album could of done a whole lot better!

I'm not arguing with you on the "third single could of done wonders for the album" but I just don't think GD care about singles much. They care more about making albums and touring for their fans. At this point in their career, they're not looking for massive singles like they were for American Idiot

And sure, we were hyping up the album but I don't know where you're getting the hype for this single

I think we're definitely on the same page when it comes to promotion. It's been truly dreadful. One example: Their YouTube channel has more than 2 Million subscribers now, yet, they barely use it. No concert tour trailer in the beginning, no tour updates, very few live performances (when they could easily record, mix and then release something).

They are fucking awful with promoting it, but Mystic over here in so much denial !

I'm actually considering that if I ever get to that point, I'll write a thesis called "Green Day Marketing: Things They Have Done Wrong" and RevRad single/music video is going to be a long chapter.

This is even more of a waste than SB. I'm not calling for a massive promo campaign like what they attempted with the Trilogy, but this looks like their team died out of exhaustion after they accidentally didn't fuck up with the AMAs.

TL;DR They should hire me.

It's funny to read all your comments and complaints. I'm not a stan, or a die hard fan, so I don't really know every detail about everything. However, I've seen many interviews, many Facebook and Instagram posts, and the lyrics video and everything... I mean, they don't promote like a pop singer (they're everywhere) but they have done a good job. I think you guys need to stop worrying too much.

I agree they can't go over the top with their promo, but the way they never seem to get through with something they've started irritates me.

For example: the revrad video was announced a couple days before the New Year's Eve, then some photos that looked like they might have been from the shot were posted, it looked like they were trying to create hype - and it worked - but then, nothing happened for months. Later, completely out of the blue, the mysterious stillbreathing campaign was launched - and it kind of fell flat because they never really managed to convey the message it was supposed to have (and it came way to late to have any impact, almost 6 months after the single and the video, mind you). And now, after months of airplay, RevRad finally gets announced as a single and the music video is re-announced.

This is called "late to the party". Really, it's almost as if their pr team lived in a parallel universe where all of this makes sense.

It's no big tragedy but damn, they are such a huge band, one would expect Warner to pay more attention to their promo.
