Yeah, Billie seemed giddy like a little boy on Christmas because obviously Green Day being "God's favorite band" was Tre's long standing joke.  It was as if BJA had no idea Colbert was gonna do that. It would be a very cool coincidence, or maybe some staffer is a big fan and has seen BIAB and suggested it :D

That's what I thought.

The god thing took me back to bullet in a bible

"Why are there no clouds in the sky?!

Cause god wants to watch his favorite band again"

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Hehe.

The performance was awesome! Totally worth tuning in!

Did anyone else get a Letterman throwback when Tré ran right off the Drumset?

Wow! Seems to be the best 'Still Breathing' live ever!

Definitey tops the Ellen performance of Still Breathing by a ton.

I really love this  Too bad there wasn't an interview.

Aw, that was fun.  They looked and sounded great.

I do wish they would have performed a new single, whatever that may be.  I love Still Breathing but wish they would have played something more energetic.

Loved the intro by God.  Lol.  That seemed to amuse them.

Can't wait to see this.  Watching on demand tomorrow. Too tired.

Damn and we will never see the other professionally taped songs anywhere... :ermm:

And can somebody tell me what the fourth song was, I know they played Still Breathing, Good Riddance and Revolution Radio AND?

Anyway, though I think this performance is pretty good (he's a lot more solid in the verse, where he used to sing slightly of key, he still struggles with chorus, I really think they should transpose it half a step or maybe even a full step, because he could sing it so well, if he didn't have to hit these high notes), my favorite pro-shot performance would still have to be, live in Boston House of Blues:

A lot of it, I have to mention though is down to mixing. The studio live performances always mix in a way that the voice is heard the best and therefore it amplifies little mistakes quite a lot. There is also the lack of room resonance there is in proper concert halls and arenas and as people pointed out, no audience to add extra ambience. This is why, East Jesus Nowhere sounded much better in the properly mixed and mastered MTV world stage performance than on Letterman or on Saturday Night Live.

Well what a pleasant surprise! Staying out of the 'what they should've played' discussion but he sounded pretty good to me.

Billie and Mike's reaction to the God joke was priceless, they definitely didn't see that coming

I just pretend they aren't there just like I always did. :ga:

I swear I will never ever get tired of this song. I think Billie sounded absolutely wonderful. Maybe I especially like the fact that it doesn't sound too perfect and polished, that makes it so raw and emotional. The "as I walked out on the ledge" part always sends shivers down my spine.

God really has go(o)d taste :P

I think Ordinary World? There's a picture earlier in the thread where Billie's got a capo on the 7th fret. Kind of a waste to bring the whole band and all of the equipment out to have Billie play two songs solo.

I absolutely love the performance! The way Billie and Mike look at Tré after "God" says they're his favorite band is priceless.
