She probably just doesn't want you to get involved with the dark side of foruming. GDC is fine, 4Chan not so much

Well she kinda know @Todd because she saw one of his message on Facebook (Hopefully it was only a pic of a signed Dos CD by Mike , nothing about GDC):)

I'm getting my best friend into them now, and it's really fun to see someone discovering them for the first time. Seeing them through someone else's eyes really makes you appreciate the band so much more :) We talk about them pretty much all the time now and on Friday we're gonna order pizza and watch their interviews :D

True. It's so reassuring too. Knowing that someone less emotionally invested sees what you see in them (or maybe something else but is able to appreciate them) feels better than anything else. I loved hearing what my mom had to say about them after we've seen them together. I've always thought that we - the craziest of fans - are projecting all the time. That we see what we want to see. But it was her, not me, who loved Billie's smile and how geniunely happy they seem to be having fun together with their fans. We tend to be sentimental, but if she sees it too, it has to be real!

Yeah exactly!!! It just makes me fall in love with them again. I mean I tag her in videos of Billie etc. (especially the last one) and she says herself that he looks really cute and that his St Jimmy performance was like a happy bouncy ball and she calls him "baby", and I'm like... YES.

What does your family, friends, significant others, coworkers or acquaintances think of Green Day? What do they think of Rev Rad? This is the thread to discuss what the not super fans in our lives think of the band we love so dearly.

i'll get the ball rolling. My family is really enjoying Rev Rad, in fact my sister is liking Green Day more than ever and is super excited to see them for the first time this March. Their favorite songs on the new album are Say Goodbye, Still Breathing, Youngblood, Troubled Times and Ordinary World. Of course I shove the music down their throats every chance that I get, so that helps.

You have probably the best family here in GDC

That's so awesome! I never converted anyone for this kind of fandom  I am jealous! My best friend started to like them a while ago - she says she wants to see them live, but I think she's rather a casual fan. Seems she only knows the big hits/singles. I gave her revrad, but she only listened to some of it and said she loved SB and didn't like revrad the song at all :ermm: She doesn't fangirl, but when we watched the SB video, she seemed interested and in the end she asked me a very alarming question about Billie - "it's the same guy from the AI videos withought make up or someone else?". I was shooketh.

I wonder what album should I give her to listen to, I really want her to like them.

That's a good idea! I've never thought of the Trilogy as an album I'd give to someone who I want to make like Green Day, because these records aren't considered the best and aren'z typical of them anyway, but it's a great choice for someone who likes their poppier stuff! Now I'm gonna make her listen to Stay The Night haha

It's my favorite besides RevRad.It's the most underrated one.

I'm a big fan of power pop and bands like Cheap Trick so I love the trilogy. I don't care if it's not typical GD I love everything GD do because they can adopt any style and do it well. Besides, what is "typical" GD? Is it the first thing you heard like punk or maybe for you it's classic rock. They do everything.

On topic, if I was going to introduce someone to the band who didn't know anything I'd start with other music they like and then play them the most similar sounding thing from GD. That would be a fun exercise, here's a guide for the unitiated:

Broadway: When It's Time

Punk: Brain Stew/Jaded

Hardcore: Take Back

Ballads: Last Night on Earth

Pop: Good Riddance

Classic Rock: 21st Century Breakdown

Cabaret: Misery

Country: Dominated Love Slave

Power Pop: Troublemaker

Brit Pop: Deadbeat Holiday

Feel free to add on 🙂

My manager thought I was insanse seeing green day 3 times this year, and she thought it was even more insane that I lined up at 5:30am for one of them and 6:30 for the others !!! BUT ITS NOT JUST THR SAME SONGS TO ME!!!

My father likes ordinary world and said I don't know why he has to go screaming all the time !! My mother has grown to like a few songs but I think it's just to please me tbh, but mum and my mother do both recognise green day songs now and know some of the lyrics. She pointed out that " and I walk alone " sounds like " and I wore cologne"

My mum also likes the album Billie did with Norah, and jokes it's basically an alumb of death
