I know how popular the Gorillaz, Blur and Damon Albern is that over there and over here and I would dare say I probably know it very well. Also Gloa gets who they want, when they want and at the price they want. The problem with the Gorillaz is they have a very over produced show and it wasn't ready for Glos. I was at that show and it was painful. I was there. I also saw them at The Gibson with Reed, Turner, Pistols, Little Dragon, Womack and Snoop and it was OFF THE CHAIN. Fun fact: was 2010 and Pharrell led N.E.R.D. opened to great fan fare. Empire Ants was one of the sickest live performances I've ever seen. I work with Albern and Heather. Random pull and won't do it justice peace Why there was such a patronising time throughout that I'll never know, but anyway… What my point is, and you've failed to reply to, is that I don't think Green Day are big enough or the right fit for Glastonbury. This with the fact that Foo Fighters (again, the "rock" act) have already been announced means I don't think they'll play. Your point of Glastonbury getting who they want strengthens my argument, why would they choose Green Day?
Joe. Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 4 hours ago, crock6000 said: I don't even understand what the first question means and this conversation we're having makes almost no sense to me. I have no idea what we're discussing. I hope at least you're learning something. Why would Glastonbury choose Green Day, when there's already a rock act headlining? That's the question. I also don't think they'd headline as they aren't really big enough within the UK anymore. Again, cut the patronising tone, come down from your ivory tower and have an actual conversation
jengd Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 According to NME article just online this pm, Green Day are top of bookies list for last headline slot, 8/1 for what it's worth.
Joe. Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 5 hours ago, crock6000 said: My ivory tower? Dude, I didn't even know what you were saying. Green Day wouldn't headline Glos because they are not the type of band to headline Glos but popularity ain't the reason. They are DEFINITELY popular enough to. I used The Gorlliaz as an example because Green Day IS more popular in England and Europe now than The Gorllaz and I FUCKING LOVE The Gorillaz, look at my avatar, ever were. I wasn't even sure until I looked back what we were discussing. At first I thought someone said that they WERE headlining Glos so I was responding to that. It is you that is acting all high and mighty, not me. And if The Gorillaz can headline the Pyramid stage, than if popularity were the only factor than Green Day could too (note that I said IF popularity was the only factor). Blur, different story but The Gorlliaz never once in their career had the fandom that Green Day has now (and yes I mean in the U.K.) and please save the quoting album sales in 1998 vs 2016 or something because that doesn't cut it and if you are going to quote a chart, make sure it's an impressionistic chart such as only radio play, impressionistic plays (such as Spotify or iTunes) or something like that. Know your charts. I read Pollstar Pro on a daily basis. Or just believe whatever you want. Cool with me. Climbs down off of ebony tower. All this high and mighty BS and taking a superior tone is why I said you're in an ivory tower, which means thinks your above everyone. What my point has been throughout this entire thread is Green Day no longer have the widespread love anymore from the general public, people don't really care anymore. When blink and Foo Fighters (recent examples and they're in a similar category to Green Day - aging) had their big news of a new album and Glastonbury - people reacted and got excited, there was nothing like that for RevRad. People are apthetic towards Green Day and I think BST sales show that, other than the fandom noones bothered. Idk why they've been mentioned but Blur would generate more hype as headliners, because of a nostalgia thing, which more people have for blur than Green Day
DeJennsitized Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I'm not surprised GD and Ed are both the top bets for the last headline slot (thanks to that BBC article) but I am a bit surprised Green Day are deemed more likely than Ed. I would have put it the other way round. Also does that mean that only one of them will be confirmed? There's only one slot left? I don't really know Glastonbury that well. Edit: @crock6000, I wouldn't have mentioned this if you hadn't used the word so many times, but I can't help but point out that Glastonbury is spelt with an A. I know it doesn't matter but when you first started using Glos I was genuinely confused and thought you were referring to another festival.

In fact, I probably suffer from low self image. Whatever you think is happening, isn't. It's probably my fault somehow so I apologize. Now, if I say "You win whatever we are 'arguing' about", please don't fire back with "You're doing it again" because I have the feeling you will. I swear I have nothing against you. I don't know why you think I'm being high and might. FFS, I've said 2x minimum that I didn't quite even understand what we were talking about. On this first post of this string of posts, I thought I was actually responding thinking Green Day was playing. I didn't read through the thread. I had to fix it. To finalize, I don't know what began this pissing contest but we just call it over because I don't care whether I'm wrong or right, or what we are even debating. I have a lot of real things in life to worry about than one of he places that I come (this place) to get high, zone out of life, I don't like drama. So there, please, that should end it. Your superior tone has made you look an arse hole but whatever
