We won't get a quality Green Day album until they lose popularity.

Maybe another masterpiece but it will never be popular because Rock music is on its lowest point

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there, GreenDayTheory. Rock music is as innovative as it ever has been.

You just have to know where to find it ;)

Yea it's innovative but Rock music is losing its popularity and might not even rise again :(

good.

May I remind you, however, that Green Day is a pop band with rock and punk tendencies. Their music has always been on the poppy side, and they don't share many elements with other true rock bands, like Swans Godspeed You! Black Emperor, or Sigur Ros.

Yea thats why Green Day hated Tim Yohannan for saying them to be pop but its kinda true :)

RevRad is great and is basically 21CBD part 2 because the meaning is similar except without Gloria and Christian

what do you mean by similar from RevRad to 21? You are talking sound or song?

I kind of like 21 better then RevRad from quality of writing of song and sound is more smooth and has more hard hitting beat. I can't explain more then that

but with RevRad sound and song is all over place..or maybe I needed to listen to cd again..

The theme is similar but anything other than that its different and give RevRad a listen you will like it I promise :)

You haven't done anything wrong.  Someone just seems to want to cause trouble lately.

Excuse me??????

What do you MEAN Revolution Radio wasn't a quality Green Day album?

Not only was it their most inspired and emotional since Kerplunk, but I feel as if each song has such a deep meaning that I am just disturbed that you would even PRETEND that it's not their second best album. Green Day shouldn't go more experimental, they should follow the Revolution Radio sound. When I hear songs like Outlaw and Bouncing off the Walls, I shed tears. They are the most raw and personal songs I have heard since Spiritualized's Ladies and Gentlemen, We are Floating in Space. Your assertion is wrong, nick.. Green Day doesn't need a "popularity dip" or new inspiration. They need to just record Revolution Radio ii, and then Revolution Radio iii and iv.

This is the only way to please the fans. We need less debbie downers like nick. over here and more forward thinkers, like me!

Like if you agree :)

Well said. I appreciate your enthusiasm and optimism. Looking back on this topic there are some things I wish I had communicated more effectively. What I hope to get across is that I find the album a little stale and I find the band a little comfortable. Plain and simple. And Green Day's best work has come at a time when they were the opposite of comfortable i.e. Pre Dookie and Americans Idiot. I'll be the first to admit I had incredibly high hopes for this album and was hoping for a return to Nimrod or Insomniac era angst. In my defense, I don't claim any of this as fact, but just my humble opinions. I couldn't disagree with you more that the band should, as you said, "record revolution radio ii, and then revolution radio iii and iv." Thats the comfortable state I'm worried they may get stuck in. I think if you're honest with yourself you will agree that there is a certain amount of passion lacking from RevRad that was undeniable in American Idiot and Dookie.

I completely agree. Perhaps I went quite a bit overboard with my original (jokey/sarcastic) posts.

Green Day should just do what they want. They shouldn't cater to anyone.

(If anything, maybe they should try to write more complex and interesting music to appeal to anyone who still says they're an untalented pop band that just rips off other acts. I'm sure they could pull off something more melodically interesting and better produced. It doesn't even have to be technically challenging, no one's asking them to throw in a bunch of 13/4 time signatures or sweep picking. They need to just write more interesting music and try to build back a better reputation before they're out of time [I mean, if they care at all about that sort of thing, of course. Because I'm pretty sure they don't give a shit about what the average pretentious music-listener thinks of them.])

So idk, they should just do whatever they want. what do i know anyways?

Maybe a experimental loose concept album  (AI,21CBD,Nimrod,Warning mixed kinda)

Edit: Just an opinion so chill guys :)
