No one sets out to randomly steal a car and goes for one in a garage (prob equipped with a house alarm system) that also accidentally belongs to a guy known for a pretty niche taste in cars.

Man they went through a lot of trouble. That means they knew what they were after and had seen it before. That feels much more invasive and creepy than a random street crime.  Billie restores and sells old cars frequently, for him to hold on to this one for thirty years (and that takes a lot of maintenance to keep it running) it had to have a high sentimental value and a close attachment.  He doesn’t part with those kinds of things easily.  This had to hurt I feel so bad for him.

That also had to make a lot of noise and take some time. These thieves were determined

I think this shows that this was not some poor desperate person. This was not a crime of desperation or opportunity. He was targeted. Someone defintiely knew what they were doing and what they were after.

I wonder if they somehow stuck one of those Apple AirTags or whatever kind of tracking device on the car beforehand. I mean, how else would they know to cut a garage door open specifically for that car?

If he regularly drove and parked it in a storage locker or public garage storage space they could have been watching for it. It doesn’t look like a residential garage door. Hope there were good security cameras.

I can’t post stories but Sara and Kevin posted about this event they were at (with Tre and Vicki) with The Interrupters with Tim Armstrong.  It turned out to be a mini Operation Ivy reunion with Jesse Michaels singing Sound System! (Someone on Facebook has a full video of it but dammit it won’t let me share)

Billie just went live talking about the car. Pleading with the thieves to return it and he doesn’t want jail time for them, and if they do get locked up, he’ll bail them out!!!

Sometimes if something has sentimental value, as this car obviously does for Billie, nothing can replace it. It's like you get a bag stolen and there's a precious photo inside you can never get back

How great would it be if the car actually got returned? Not expecting that because thieves are selfish dicks but it would be a great story
