I don’t think what I said is in any opposition with what you and jumpsalty are saying. Yes, the only change is that the band dropped out from social media promotion and that is why people feel it’s less personal, even though not that much changed

I've always loved the stage photos and I'm really glad they're still posting some. I remember getting home from school/college in my teens and checking the Green Day website or Idiot Club to see if there were new photos from the last show. For the shows I was actually at, they were really special and I'm sure people who are at these shows feel the same way. I'm still salty that Green Day stopped posting photo galleries before I got onstage and I only have one professional shot of it But they've never been particularly consistent with any kind of promotion and it's just how it is.

When you've seen a lot of stage photos over the years then yeah, they can all start to look the same, but now there's a pandemic and I can't imagine going to any gig any time soon, they seem more like they used to when I was a fangirling teenager. At the end of the day I love Green Day's live show more than I'm interested in their lives. As personal as behind the scenes posts can seem, they're never going to be a 100% accurate representation of any celebrity anyway.

Also, I'm not on Instagram right now (seriously can't blame anyone for staying away), so I appreciate everyone sharing photos here!

When I was doing Food Not Bombs stuff like 20 years ago there was this old guy named Diamond Dave who'd been involved in Bay Area subculture going all the way back to the beatniks. The legend is that Dave was the first person to get Bob Dylan high. He was a kind man who talked in funny rhymes and was always telling hilarious stories about stuff you'd normally only see in history books or documentaries. Anyway, I was just looking through old Gilman photos and sure enough, there's Diamond Dave having a blast on stage next to Billie Joe at a @greenday show 1990. He really is the Bay Area Forrest Gump!

The day BJA posts on IG will be a crazy excellent day for those who care. No matter what the post will be this thread will blow up 😆 I hope it’s a pic of a roll of toilet paper if he’s using his iPhone to work on song ideas. I’m pretty sure the Dookie King would do great work from there.

And yeah I was surprised to see Jason F. with no hat! Haha it’s so funny what we notice and talk about  I love the GDC ❤️
