DookieLukie Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Napoleon Dynamite is very divisive. It definitely takes a certain sense of humor to understand, kind of a dry and subtle one. It's very much funny due to its characters. Everyone has people like the characters in our lives, but the movie just turns the dial up on their unique traits. I think people who can notice and appreciate the quirkiness of human beings find the movie funny. Personally, I love that movie. It was the first comedy I think I ever laughed out loud at. I give it a lot of credit for being a character-driven comedy (not just Apatow off-the-cuff improv film) and for having a real emotional core to it. Most comedies throw in an emotional message at the end to make things nice and clean. Napoleon Dynamite has a lot of soul and gets you emotionally invested because of its characters. I think we all have a bit of Napoleon in us at some point in our lives. Because of this emotional connection to the characters, the ending isn't over the top and feels very much earned. 1 1 Quote

A friend of mine just visited the castle in Scotland. I don't know which moment I'd pick from the movie (maybe the killer rabbit and of course the black knight is classic) but my all time favorite sketch is the dirty fork. 1 Quote

That’s Doune Castle where Holy Grail was filmed I think. 1 Quote

There isn't a lot of humor that I don't find funny other than just stupidly crude. Crude humor is good only if it's done right. 1 Quote

No. The one with the guitar looks to be from when they filmed the video for the NHL deal. I did post some pics from the Stern show in the "Band photos" thread. 1 Quote
